Raw Life milestones

Well this is surely a milestone and cause for celebration - my 26 year old son made a Green Smoothie for ME! He used the blender that I got for him (a basic inexpensive 3 speed type), and ingredients we shopped for at Trader Joes - but the recipe was all his and he had such joy creating it, including a 'secret' ingredient that he did with flare - he had me turn around so I wouldn't see him put the 'hot pepper sauce' into the mix at the end.…

Summer cocktail: a very refreshing green juice with wild edibles

If the earth is our mother, green juice is her breastmilk :)

Here's one of the refreshing summer cocktails we made over the last few days. Wild weeds do a wonderful job replenishing the minerals we sweat out when the weather's hot.…

Penni's gift, became my gift to another

What a wonderful resource Raw Food Rehab is!  I was thrilled to be able to receive the "It's Easy Being Green ebook Penni gave away on St. Patrick's Day.  I glanced through it as I rushed through my life. (Four of my daughters began this year by telling me they were pregnant.  One of my girls lost her baby this week...) So it's been a little rough here and there, and a lot of fun, and delightfully challenging.

My daughter, Emily, is my 'little bird'.  She doesn't like to eat much,…

A Vibrant Heart of Love

Green is the color of the heart chakra and green is the glorious color of the vibrant living foods that bring us so fully alive! There are many colors in the raw spectrum - but today I am sending you all a valentine from the green world in celebration of the love and gratitude that I feel for the raw way of living and for all of the lovely people that I get to share the journey with here in Raw Food Rehab.

As I reflect on the many benefits and blessings of living mostly…

Dream Goosing. :)

I love it here :)  All the colors and the motivation, RFR just sends me right back on track. :)

I have eaten nothing today but 3 cupcakes, I find them extremely filling......ah yes, how odd, this is what I've eaten the last 2-3 days and my arthritis has felt better than ever.

What ya'll think :P  Am I about to be whacked with a baseball bat?? :)  Arthritis...it's perdy bipolar. :)  I choose happy delusion for now.  I'm loving this.  I feel NORMAL :)  And I'm…

Such Is Life :-)

Made a gigantic batch of the crimson juice yesterday!!!!  I had one glass yesterday and now I am drinking one this morning and I have SO much left!! It's wonderful to have such an abundance of the thing that I need!!!  It contains 2 heads of kale, 1 huge beet, 1/2 a head of dill, 1 small purple onion, and at least 15 carrots.  It really isn't the best tasting green juice I've ever had, but it certainly isn't bad either.  I'm just so happy to have it!!

I feel no different from…

Incredible Things I'm Learning From Green Juicing

I know it sounds so silly, but last night I made a great big smile in the mirror--much more exaggerated than I ever usually do--just to check lol (anyone else do this?), and sure enough I could find wrinkles forming in places I never even knew they were before!!  So in a frenzy I slabbed on a moisturizer I never use and decided that from that day forward I'd follow a low to no sodium diet.

Why a low sodium diet is better for your skin: Simple, you stay hydrated much easier because the…

Food Journal Day 9

Wow, I woke up at 2 in the morning last night, no idea why, maybe because I was stressed deep down because I knew I still needed to both brush my teeth and wash my makeup still on...I went to the bathroom.

Shocking!!!!

A couple days ago, I swear even yesterday, there was this patch of pimples running along the left side of my face behind my hairline...gone.  Completely gone.  It was like they were never even there.  And the skin there looks baby smooth and pore less.  WHAT…

10 Things I Like About Me, day 5 of 30- This process is powerful friends!

1.  Can be still, silent, and at peace with myself.

2.  Am accepting and appreciating the body I was given.

3.  Chose a steady, kind, loyal, handsome, thoughtful, hard working, gentle man to be my husband.

4.  Am working to improve my digestion to feel my best and prevent disease.

5.  Today I made a raw green soup based on "Dara Dubinet's youtube video- My One True Thing Green Soup" that my whole family was willing to eat!  My husband asked for seconds!

My little victory number two!!!!

Just wanted to share something that I almost forgot!

It has been two weeks since we came back from our trip, where I bought Victoria Boutenko book and read it in one day!

And I convinced my husband to drink one green smoothie every morning!!! It was a HUGE victory for me!!!!

And he drunk it every day about 500-700ml simple smoothie: banana with spinach and water, sometimes I would add mango too.  But then he stopped for few days now, as he is…

Day 16 of my 90-120 day juicing

I will only be mentioning my juice feast here once in a while. I am really busy with putting total concentration on myself which might sound selfish ,and it's not intensional, just needs to be done this way. I am doing all the reading I can on the way a body functions. Unless you really want something and don't know how to make it happen ,do what feels right. Juicing and geting back to where I used to be when I was younger is my goal here.…

Trouble Sleeping, Music, and Zucchini Pasta Recipe

I've been having such a hard time sleeping lately now that the symptom of the fatigue from my ulcerative proctitis has been disappearing!!!  Goodness me with that perk came a con!  I lie awake...tossing and turning...stressed out...thinking of food...I turn to bedtime snacks if I can't sleep...Maybe tea will help...I thought of tea but I was a naughty girl both last night and the night before and had bedtime snacks--not good for my digestion which is really altogether not good for my health…

The Greenest Dip You've Never Seen

Remember the Dr. Seuss book, Green Eggs and Ham?  Well I just discovered the raw vegan equivalent--and before you say "I do not like it, Sam-I-Am", I recommend you try it!  You could eat it in a box, with a fox, in a house or with a mouse.  Sorry for the terrible quality of my phone camera, but I had to share a picture to prove what I'm talking about.

Waking up Unwell and Self Motivation

This morning is a struggle.  My whole body is sore, I'm fatigued, and I'm just laying in bed.  It started day before yesterday and gradually worsened--the breaking point being last night after I made a rather large raw butternut squash dish (I'm thinking that the teriyaki sauce or the combination of spices/season salts I added made me feel off).  I also have been eating rather high fat raw the last two days, which even with the addition of greens, does not do my body good (although with the…

Green Tea--Bad or Good?

This has been confusing me so much, for so long, I'm actually dedicating an entire blog post to it.

Green tea.

Controversial?  Thoughts?  Is it good, bad?  I know it's a step up from coffee--but is it a step down from raw?

How I feel personally while drinking green tea (mixed emotions):

Hunger pangs go away throughout the day.   Am able to focus on and enjoy life to the fullest.

Feel a strange, down to earth, almost godly calm for…

Kiwi Banana Mint Coconut Smoothie :) (and then I do end up talking about my day/plans/etc) (edit: and on facebook defending green smoothies!)

...I don't really want to talk about my day right now.  I just want to talk about this smoothie.

I think it's the most amazing thing I've ever tasted in my life.

This smoothie can have my babies.

For reallll.

Because of my experience, I will not change the recipe in any way.  The only way I think this recipe could be amplified is if some type of form of coconut were added.

It's lots of getting frozen but not quite all the…

Plants love green smoothies. :)

I've been feeling a lot better the last day or two.  My mother saw me when I stopped by her townhouse, and she said I looked much healthier, more perky and aware.  So I know it's not just me.  And it's amazing, how I feel.  You really know you were sick before, in any case in life, when things start improving.  Cyclical emotions and bodies.

I found out something interesting today :)

When I finish my green smoothie, I usually fill the jar the smoothie was in…
