Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!
Today
Feel really great today arthritis-wise and think I'm going to go on a bike-ride. The heat hasn't really been bothering me this year, in fact it just feels positively wonderful on my joints!!
Emotion-wise I'm a little sad, as my boyfriend and I have been having a lot of struggles in our relationship lately. It's just been hard and I really care about him and want to be with him for as long as possible, and it just makes me so sad that we keep having so many squabbles and…

Day 1...again
So today I'm starting to clean up my eating. Okay. That's not entirely true. I actually have been working on it for a couple of weeks, but today I'm taking a further step of change. I had been primarily juicing, but the cravings got so bad that I began eating horribly again. Now I feel physically awful, so I instead crave change.

Twelve Week Challenge
Tomorrow I begin my twelve-week challenge. I am combining weight lifting, aerobic activity and mostly raw food to completely change my body. I have already participated in a couple of the groups on the raw food rehab and have lost 30 pounds. I have now set a goal of losing my remaining weight and finishing the transformation to a style of life/eating that I want to keep for the rest of my life. Today I prepare for that challenge by readying myself for tomorrow, day one.

Braving the Storms :)
I just walked (actually, mostly jogged!!) my dog through slush and snow and blizzard for two blocks to get him to the dog groomers!!!! :) WOW! LOL. All I have had is maybe a cup and a half of a green (crimson actually because of the beet) juice this morning. I got home from my boyfriends, had the motivation to make a big juice to drink throughout the day, and drank that little bit of juice because I am not sure I have enough to disperse still evenly throughout the day (I needs more…

Overweight and need to get my health back into gear.
I am starting this blog to chronicle my process recovering from injuries to my Left Ankle and Achilles Tendon.I was getting back into shape but back in April a recurring Injury popped up and i went and had a MRI done and my left Achilles Tendon had a heel spur poking right through it and said it was damaged beyond repair. My doctor also noticed my outer ligament in my ankle were damaged from rolling my ankle a few times over the years. It is an injury I have had for awhile but decided enough…

Ice Skating, Dating, and Social Responsibility
Well yesterday I had a date. We went ice skating in this outdoor rink in Detroit. Detroit is scary, beautiful, and BIG. I felt so odd being there--it was only a 45 minute drive from where I live and yet I'd never been in that part of Detroit before and it felt like I may as well have been from Maryland or something LOL. I felt like I had entered a time warp. I would love to visit more often. It was really interesting. The buses there have dark tinted glass windows so you can't see in…

"Invited Nature to My Workout & Walking Into the Wind"
I went for a mid-morning walk today just as I’ve been doing for several weeks. It had been a windy rainy night so my favorite tree lined walking path looked like a newly developed obstacle course. As I walked along, I began moving the fallen branches so as to clear the path for the next walker or young biker pedaling through. Knowing our local Michigan day was filed with 25 mph winds it was a little challenging and it started feeling like a resented chore. However, the Grandma in me kept…

Raw Mantras. Improving. Lessons. Needing to Learn More on Raw Protein.
Well, although I know I have my ups and downs on this journey, it seems like my road of ups and downs always is one step backward and two steps forward. :)
Today I ate 50 percent raw. But what was cooked was completely healthier than what I would have normally choose, if I were to eat cooked. I focused more on getting enough protein today than anything else. I'm still struggling on figuring out how to get enough protein raw without eating nuts or seeds (which make me feel…

It’s the last day of August and I’m lucky enough to be spending these few precious days before the kids head back to school and my work routine begins, at the BEACH!

Better and Better
I have neglected to update this blog for the entire month of August, so I thought I might do just that before it completely slips away.
The raw vegan lifestyle continues to dominate my every waking moment, from exercise to food decisions and all the energy, motivation and joy one could possibly imagine. I can truthfully say, I am a new person. Not to say I don’t have my moments of temptation and the down swings when circumstances are not ideal.…

Exercise (Rebounding)
I've been almost completely sedentary for the last six months. Occasionally, I'll go out for a walk with my nordic walking poles but I hate to go alone and my husband can't keep up. (he has issues since his stroke a few years back) I really want to exercise and work off some calories. But, most importantly, I need to boost my metabolism.
I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried rebounding and if it's been helpful to you. Is it fun enough to keep you motivated?
Thanks.

The last time I self-checked my BP was probably in December, prior to the 'Resolve to Evolve' iniative. It was a rather scary 173/97 then - eek! I erased the reading immediately, as if that would help anything, LOL.
Yesterday I visited an naturopathic doctor for the first time, and mentioned my BP. She checked it, looked at the numbers, looked at me, and said, "YOU don't have high blood pressure! Look at this: 117 over 83. Perfectly normal!"
Well, I almost did a happy…

New Here!
I'm new here, and have been playing with the idea of blogging here. So, here it goes. My voice is gone today and I've got a bit of a sore throat, so blogging will be great then, huh? I haven't really gotten sick for almost two years. I quit smoking at that time after my bi-annual bronchitis...the last bout just about did me in, so I quit there on the spot. Nowadays, I just don't seem to catch what everybody else gets, which makes me a great nurse for my kiddos. :)…
