School, Some Natural Skincare, Thoughts

Hello everyone :)  Shh.  Staying up late signing up for classes!!!  I might stay up all night--this is hard!  The choices are getting narrower as I get closer to my degree--but I haven't been accepted in a program yet (nor have I tried--I need to get all the pre-reqs first!), so I have to make sure I have both gen-eds and pre-reqs covered from both schools I'll be applying to--so I'm trying to find the most optimal classes--ones that will cover all 4.  This is HARD.  Plus I don't have the…

Cooked Food Is A-Okay :)

Had an okay weekend :)  My boyfriend and I were obliviously watching Family Guy while the Super Bowl was on.  We both learned that it was on this morning on the radio when we were driving to work/school.  We aren't really the biggest sports fans! :P

Craving lots of salty things today and what have I packed for myself?  Big bag of fruit.  Oh well. :)  I hope it helps some of the GI problems I've been experiencing.

In my last post, I mentioned…

Medicine/Life Update :)

Hey guys :)

Well the sulfasalazine I just got on, thusfar, is absolutely saving my life....I am feeling so, so, so much better....I am still having flareups--last night I had one that made me cry, but I'm still doing things I couldn't even dream of doing a few weeks ago. :)  I even helped lift up heavy furniture and move it into the Penske truck over the weekend with my boyfriend, dad, dad's girlfriend/her sons, and one of dad's coworkers!!!  It was amazing :)  I was going…

Thoughts on High-Fat 100 Percent Raw and New Book, and Where I'm At Currently

So finally a book is being written about something many of us have known all along--the nutrition of some cooked foods is much healthier for you than some raw (in almost all incidents we're comparing something with the likes of steamed vegetables to of course a raw nut dessert or pate).  This has been obvious to me from the start, as ever since I weened myself off of nuts and seeds my health has improved dramatically.  Although I still experience arthritic flareups, I no longer experience…

Poor, Pretty Little Man.

Heehee, I have something kind of amusing to share with you guys.  Dad had a friend over last night who owns a catering business nearby.  He's extremely good looking and he and dad click because they both A) love cooking and preparing food and entertaining, and B) got divorces within the last year or two, and seem to be serial monogamists ever since.  He cooks extremely high-quality, beautiful, amazing food, has been on food network, etc.....He was actually married to a woman on food…

A Realization About My Appetite/Desire For Cooked Foods

I had a realization about myself this morning that I thought I would share with you all because it might help you too.  Well, maybe you already knew this about yourself from the beginning--but it's taken me until today to realize this particular thing about myself at this point in my journey.

I have lost pretty much all of my addictions to the flavors of cooked food.  In fact if someone takes me out to a restaurant, I just don't have the appetite for some complex, cooked vegan…

Just an update. :) No more food journals for a while. Edit; New Look, New, Achievable Goals For Myself!

Hi guys :)  (do you like the new look!?  I think sometimes life is more fun when you spruce things up a bit!  I felt like something needed to change!!! :)  I will probably continue messing around with fonts and colors and such from now on!! :)  it's fun to do things different, just small simple things to make ourselves …

Food Journal Day 13--Good Old Wilma

Hey guys. :)

Well goodness me the appetite has decreased and that is wonderful, as it's helped me--for the most part--choose only the best foods, and I realize why it's happened.  This has really truly been the worst PMS I have ever experienced since eating dairy, and I can only think it's because so much is changing within my body right now that it might be funking up the hormones, especially mixing in the cooked food with all the raw food sometimes after I've been doing so…

Food Journal Day 2

I woke up this morning a little sore but it is a huge improvement!! :)  For starters, it didn't take me 5 minutes to just get up.  My joints feel looser and more able to move!! :)  The foods I have eliminated must have really been causing me problems.  I can't wait to figure out a way that will allow me to eat raw as the bulk of my calories so I can help myself even more.  If you all are wondering why all the added sugar cooked desserts and why not just have fruit?  Well, a lot of fruit…

Food Journal Days 0 and 1 :)

I'd like to keep a food journal starting now. :)  I think it'll keep me in check and it will help me see which foods are causing me the most troubles.

Yesterday (Day 0)

In the morning I had about a cup of orange strawberry banana juice from trader joe's.  It's pasteurized but there are no other ingredients so I allow it every once and a while.  I also had 2 small crackers with hummus and sun dried raisins on top.  I decided to stop there because I am worried I am…

Back From Thanksgiving In Wisconsin :)

Hi everybody :)

What a sunny day here in Michigan...how odd, how odd for late November!  This is the longest Autumn I can remember and I am not complaining...However I am sure we will pay back for it soon enough...come January...and February...and March..... :)  Snowy cold days.  Our world here refreshes at the beginning of the year...Isn't it interesting?  You could almost do seasonal horoscopes and learn from people's personalities based on what seasons they face and which…

Just Want to Vent - My "Bad Food" Triggers

So I've read several posts discussing people's difficulties with the raw food lifestyle, and it has certainly made me think about what my "triggers" are when I "fall off the wagon".  I'm pretty sure I knew what they were before, but I wasn't addressing them.

Anyhow, as I'm writing them I'm dealing with a "trigger", and I'm rather pissed about it.

**CAUTION**  The following is not so much constructive information, but more venting.  Proceed at your own risk!

Bad Food…

Hello,

I feel sleepy, tired, sick, bloated. WHY?  I was eating cooked food almost three days in a row even meets and a bit of cheese.

Well I had a lovely global meeting in our organisation. Lovely people and a lot of work. 1st day was easy, melon on breakfast, then banana, theeeen lunch, from one of my favourite restaurant, I was holding back, and I had my salad in my bag, but I didnt resisted enough, I ate, their salads  and amazing mozzarella tomato…

The more raw foods in your diet, the better!

Do you know that after eating cooked food, the count of your white blood cells increase?

White cells are the protective army of your body. They increase in numbers as soon as your ingest any toxic substance, and also, they increase in response to a trauma or an infection.

Here is the article that I found on the Internet regarding this topic: Cooked Food Vs Raw…

update on my yellow skin....(adrenals, hypo, hormonal)

Since I last wrote, I have been following my doctor's suggestions to treat my adrenal/hypothyroid/autoimmune issues. She assured me that my raw foods diet was quite excellent, yet she asked me to add to my diet:

  • 'warming broths' to my diet (I am using organic vegetable broths from Trader Joe's..and also warming up green juices)-to these I add steamed squash or raw carrots.
  • an egg a day. I have done this only once-thought it would freak me out- but I sauteed it in…

Dr.praised my raw food diet- told me if not for that, these last two years would have been helll for me... she has suggested I up my green juices and water....YET she told me to eat a bit of animal protein, and some cooked veggies... Yikees!

After being almost two years raw...tonight I…

A Good Friend's Birthday & A Potluck Dinner

I hope you're all not getting sick of reading about my slip-ups. I apologize in advance. I am really trying, but found not being prepared last night really did a number on me.

I spent the day in bed with a migraine. I wasn't able to plan my food ahead of my friend's birthday party that was taking place at my house...a small group of people. Before I knew it, momentum had taken over on everyone else's part and we ended up with pizza and ice cream cake.…

Are you listening to your true self?

Are you listening to your true self?

I followed my career-oriented self and worked slavishly, not giving myself the time I needed to heal.

I followed my family-oriented self and ate cooked food with the family that I knew would cause my body pain.

I followed my addicted self and drank and ate too much sugar and processed food.

I followed my impulse-and-cleanliness oriented self and did too much housework that hurt my back.

I have… Continue

blendtec is back!!!

I missed you Blendy!!!!!!!! It's been HARD without you.

I have been a bit out of sorts after my jury duty. The second day I basically waited around and didn't get picked for any trials. It was a huge hassle getting home as the bus didn't come and I ended up taking a cab because I was so exhausted. I came home and was flat on the couch and took a long nap. Yesterday I slept until 12:30 and I really needed it. I got some craniosacral… Continue

maybe i need this place more than ever

this stuff used to be easy for me. eating raw. all the time i had an easy answer. all winter, hardly any problems. i ate so much raw that i FELT the affects of cooked food. but now i am eating a lot more cooked. probably because i felt like my life was falling apart. also i took some antibiotics and had some bad stomach problems that made me not desire to eat certain raw foods that were my staples, like salads. now my back has been inflamed and i am pretty sure that cooked food is not helping.… Continue
