A few days ago I was revealed a hidden gem!! There's this wholesale produce shop literally down the street from my dad's girlfriend's house, where I visited for the first time on Easter with my boyfriend. Dad took me there as a treat and I bought an incredible amount of produce and for under 30 dollars!! It would have been around 100 at Whole Foods!! :) Very pleased. And I even found young thai coconuts!!!!!! I haven't been able to find those ANYWHERE. And they looked great! Not…Continue
What a great evening yesterday! I'm so happy to be connecting with healthy peeps in my city <3
A friend and I shared a Coconut Kefir and Sauerkraut exchange of creative exploration and yum last night <3
The process went like this:Continue
Today is day 3 of my Juice Feast. I think that part of the initial excitement was 'buying' the new breville juicer and 'buying' all the produce. I was asked at both Costco and Sprouts if I was juicing. I proudly said YES.
I also have been drinking wheatgrass for two weeks. I really have a hard time with it, but I'm doing okay. Today I mixed some with fresh coconut water and chase it with more -- it worked. I didn't 'taste' it for hours after.
Day one was…Continue
I am in need of support. I am in the beginning stages of a 3 month juice feast.
I have decided to take a tablespoon of cold pressed olive oil a day in addition to a gallon of green juice.
As of July 8, so for the past two days I have been primarily consuming a gallon of juice. Tomorrow, July 10 I am aiming to begin the oil+ juice only.
Also I am purchasing a liter of coconut water, just in case, so I avoid eating processed…Continue
I love them. I really do. But if I am trying to lose a little weight, should I avoid them? Can I use them in moderation? What do you think? I struggle with this one....
I love the idea of making the things that I use on my body as well as only put ON my body what I think I should be putting IN my body, so no nasty stuff. I use ACV on my hair, I wash my face with raw honey, I use coconut oil as my moisturizer and lotion, but I…Continue
I spent this past week visiting with my in-laws which always includes many meals out. They stay at a resort about 30 minutes away from us. I usually try to cook most meals while they are here as my youngest daughter has celiac disease so eating out is a challenge and a gamble and it is so much easier to keep her safe in my own kitchen. But this visit happened to be an incredibly busy time here for us with sporting events and commitments all over the island and so eating at home was not…Continue
I promised I would post my Mother’s day recipes later in the day. Well, it’s a lot later! My Mother’s day turned out to be a relaxing and fun day at home, with my kids, husband and on the phone with siblings and friends. It was indeed a treat! I actually never made it back to the computer until 10pm, after my almost 13 year old Kevin went to bed.
I mentioned on my previous post Mother’s Day Memories that I’d asked for breakfast in bed. What I realized this morning is that I’m not…Continue
Two days ago I opened my very first fresh coconut . I drank all of the coconut water right away but I stored most of the coconut meat in the fridge and have been using it these last two days.
Last night I was encouraged by a raw foodie I greatly respect to keep things simple--if possible four (4) ingredients or less in a dish to make it easier to digest and to really accentuate the flavors of those few ingredients. I'm not sure I can do that regularly--I tend to keep adding a little…Continue
I was recently involved in a discussion whether the coconut was a fruit, a nut, or a seed. After much…
An at home day! I LOVE at home days!
Snow. Ice. 18 degrees and a wind chill of 1 degree!
Schools closed. Our office officially closed too!
It is a gift of time.
Smoothie time and the thoughts of the tropics came to mind as I gazed out the window at the snow.
This smoothie was amazing so I had to share it!…
Inspired by our very own Molly (hi, Molly!), I have mixed Brussels sprouts and pears in a salad. The recipe would be basically this:
