Progress :) 100% raw one month, cognitive abilities

I felt like such a survivor after school yesterday.  I had made it and I actually managed to pay attention in my night statistics class!!!  I was so exhausted, and yet when I got in the car I had this enormous inner-peace that I couldn't ignore.  And I say that because I'm pretty skeptical about that sort of thing, and usually take it with a grain of salt when people tell me about that sort of thing.  I think I was just so, so worn down that my body physically lost the energy to become…

Hydration, Improvements, Salt, & What Keeps Me Totally On Track :)

How come my entry doesn't show up instantly in the sidebar after I post it?  It appears to me here signed in, but when I log out, presto, gone-o.  That's fruity.  I hope you guys can see my entries :)  It should appear to everyone.

I woke up extremely sick feeling this morning, and I think it has to do with the fact that I went to bed last night with a tongue as dry as sand paper.  I totally dehydrated myself yesterday and barely drank any water!!  So of course when I woke up…

Lost My 100% Raw Food Virginity Yesterday ;)

Oh, sure.  I've eaten healthy.  I've been raw down to the bone, until about 8 pm, and then I'll end up having a cooked dinner.  But have I ever, ever managed to be 100 percent raw for a whole day, including breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner?  Without one slip-up?  NO.  Until yesterday, that is!!!

Woohoo!!!

I had 3 green smoothies, a huge cucumber sliced thinly, two tiny yellow apples, and some mung bean sprouts.  No seasonings, no salt, no nothing else.…

Mike is RAW - Day #9

Good morning RFR...

Since my last post things have been going pretty good.  All of the symptoms I had are gone and I am feeling much better.  I am still dealing with some cravings but so far they are managable.  There was one time when I told myself that I could cheat because I've been doing so well.... I didn't.  That's the kind of thinking that got me to where I am in the first place.

I've started researching protein sources because it seems that all of my…

Mike is RAW - Day #7

Sup guys and gals,

Yesterday was rough.  I woke up feeling pretty good, however, when I got out of bed I immediately became dizzy.  This lasted for about an hour.  After that I wasn't dizzy anymore; I just felt... I don't know.... Weird.  That evening we went visit my Mother.  As usual I brought my salad stuff - they had pizza.  I thought the chicken was bad.  It was nothing compared to the pizza.  Does wanting to hijack a delivery car count as a craving???  Anyway, I stayed…

Mike is RAW - Day #5

Pretty good day today.

When I woke up I decided to get on the scale.  Monday I weighted 395.0, Tuesday I started 100% raw and today (Saturday) I saw my first results; I am now 380.0!!!  That's 15lbs gone on the start of the 5th day.  While I know that a good bit of this is water weight, it does give me a nice psychological boost to see those numbers drop.

Food was good today.  The only real craving I got was this evening.  My in-laws had Popeye's fried…

Introduction

A little about me,

My name is Mike and I live in the bayous of southeast Louisiana.  I am 34 years old and I have always been big.  I have felt bad about my weight for a long time and have researched different methods of weight loss.  Over the years I have tried many things.  Some worked temporarily, but nothing stuck...  Actually, I never stuck.  I was not ready to change my lifestyle.  I was looking for a quick fix.

Over the years I have developed health issues…

I love new beginnings!

One of my favorite things about these initiatives is setting new goals at the beginning. I always write them down and they are always different. (Well, most of them are- I always write down "dry skin brush and meditate daily" LOL! - those are 2 things that I consistently lack consistency with! ) At any rate, I find it really helpful to set goals for myself.

Last initiative was all about balance for me. I tend to be an "all-or-nothing" kind of person. This can mean that I am hugely…

day 12 of R2E 2011- 1/12/11

detox....big time detox...it hit me big today! my sinuses have been draining for days, but today cravings and emotional detox have been way high! i was craving all kinds of stuff i don't even like and my emotions have been running rampant...from depression to irritability to anger to frustration and all over the place...at least i know what is going on and why, which has helped me keep my head through all of it...still feeling a bit out of control of my emotions, but i try to just…

day 3 of R2E 2011 - 1/3/11

today have been a very good reflective day for me..it was hard to get out of reflective mode and into exercise mode but i figured i'd push myself to do 30 minutes...though i hadn't said so anywhere i've been planning on sticking to a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise per day...well...i've decided to up the stakes and say 45 minutes minimum, because i got exercising and as 30 minutes on the wii fit came close i decided to push myself to 45 minutes, and when i got to 45 minutes i thought, "why…

…and now to the next step!

Shortly before joining RFR this past April, I started a challenge of my own on April 1st

– – 30 day 100% raw. Actually it is the second challenge, the first trial when I wanted to go for 100 days was a flop. So this time I took my own counsel, I often give it to others, and made it a small step and no additional

conditions added to it, like no salt, monomeals,…

first RFR blog for me

i have an external blog, but i'm thinking blogging here will be great at least for the 11 week initiative. i'm so excited about getting started on this great journey and the accountability of the initiative (and being in The Vault). i cleaned out my cabinets leaving 1 small "not for simone" cabinet where my grandmother and kids can keep thier cereal and snacks, still have to clean out the refridgerator, but that's 90% raw already. i've started organising some of my recipes...i have a few…

tried a raw day out...

It's the weekend, and I have a little freedom with time in the kitchen, been lurking here on rfr for a couple of weeks and have been gathering resources quietly in the house to try out more of these ideas.

Starting with dessert is definitely a good plan, last week started with a couple of cashew/date ball recipes (inspired by this recipe for 5-Minute 3-Ingredient Dark… Continue

I don't understand it.....

It seems to just keep getting easier. I'm starting day 13 tomorrow and I have to say that it is so much easier to be all raw than to mix and match.

I guess because one thing leads to another. I have identified that I eat for emotional reasons but also my tastes buds have been skewed by years of sugar and processed carbs. It almost seemed that I got to the point that if it wasn't super sugary or fatty, I didn't like it or I didn't taste it and didn't like it. Then there was the years… Continue

100% Raw Day = Need for Little Sleep

I read that Ani Phyo went raw so that she could accomplish more in a day. I have found that when I eat 100% raw, I sleep much less. I generally sleep fewer than 5 hours when I'm eating 100% raw. Four seems to be about what my body naturally does. (I haven't been a watch girl since college, and I haven't set an alarm since college--except wake-up calls in hotels.) I go to bed whenever I want to, and I'm totally refreshed in 4 hours--ready to go!! Has anyone else noticed the body's… Continue

boost of energy!!!!

Catching up on reading all your wonderful blog posts. I haven't been able to keep up! Probably a good sign. When I am feeling low energy I am glued to the house and that means computer or reading or sleeping. But I have been having lots of energy and been doing lots (for me). If you don't know I have chronic fatigue and back pain so I have limitations. My energy seems to come and go. Sometimes it goes for awhile.

I have been 100% raw for one week and I really feel this is what I have… Continue

maybe i need this place more than ever

this stuff used to be easy for me. eating raw. all the time i had an easy answer. all winter, hardly any problems. i ate so much raw that i FELT the affects of cooked food. but now i am eating a lot more cooked. probably because i felt like my life was falling apart. also i took some antibiotics and had some bad stomach problems that made me not desire to eat certain raw foods that were my staples, like salads. now my back has been inflamed and i am pretty sure that cooked food is not helping.… Continue
