Healing in 2013…..Happy New Year!

Hi there marvelous, magical creatures!

Here we are with another new year upon us.  Although I don’t always make “resolutions,” I do find that the new beginning can help me signify a change in my brain. So regardless of what I choose to do or how, I can use the opportunity to my advantage somehow!

That said, I would like to share with all of you the healing journey I am going to embark on this year.

I have been on a path of self-improvement for quite some time…

A New Raw food 'baby' and Banana Crepes

Oh my gosh i am soooo excited!! A few weeks ago i used some of my work savings and invested in a raw food baby aka my very own dehydrator... and it finally came just in time for new year! you don't need one to become raw but i am in love with the variety of raw food we can make with one and wanted to expand my horizons and soon accomplish my ultimate goal of making a raw food pizza... drool :) But guess what i made...

Plans for 2013

Hey Everyone,

Just a quick note of encouragement....everyone has probably heard this saying but I find that as each year passes, the true it is:

"If you fail to plan, then you plan to…

Gastric bypass or what???

Looking for some help.  Has anyone been on the cliff of considering gastric bypass but was able to lose their weight successfully by going raw?  I am at my heaviest weight ever and lowest point in my health journey ever.  I have been having a lot of problems with yeast, my knees are bothering me, I feel like I can't take good deep breaths without much effort, and my skin and overall appearance is anything but glowing, as is to be expected when carrying this much extra weight and burden.   I…

Our Wonder-ful Words changing our world.

As the year is about to renew on our Western calendar, changing the way we perceive and speak about our world may be one way we can make a difference for the better.

Is it possible that we can change the world just by changing the way we use words?

Can we create more harmony by using more gentle and harmonious words and using them consciously and more often?

Can we disempower words that disempower people by not using them and finding better, more constructive…

What a year!

Wow...It's December 28th?  How did that happen?  Didn't I just make goals for the New Year 2012?  Regardless, I have to stop and reflect on the good, bad & ugly!!!  Good---I made it through the year! I tried new things...I made some positive changes.....I reached some goals....I made some great friends....I feel better than I ever did....Bad & Ugly----I guess there isn't anything to fit this because I kept on trying and am not giving up!  I have many challenges at the time, but I…

Post Christmas Popeye Porridge!

It's the 27th of December, you know what that means? i have had 2 days of glorious foods with my family! It only comes once a year and when people put so much effort into the wonderful meals how can you say no? After all we work hard on our bodies but we also need to remember to treat ourselves when it counts :) Needless to say i was ready to get back into my raw foods and gym again. While there was a small 3 people at the 6am Pump class this morning (all girls too i might add - girl power!)…

Merry Christmas

This my first blog. I feel like I need support to truly succeed at my new lifestyle. This seems like a great place to get it.

A little about myself...

I'm the mother of three active boys (15, 12, 9). I work full time in PR -- busy, busy. I've been 90% vegan since about April. I've been eating about 70-80% raw for the past few months. I still slip into old habits (darn refined carbs like tortilla chips and pop chips!) especially in those engrained situations -- like running…

My First Raw Cheesecake! Raspberry, Coconut and Chocolate :)

I have been waiting for the right time to make my first raw cheesecake, and what better occasion than Christmas!? Not only can i make my first one but i can introduce more raw foods into my families life by showing them how simple and tasty raw foods can still be. I was so excited to bring a raw desert to the Christmas table with relatives joining us for Christmas lunch! The cheesecake itself looked like Christmas with the red raspberries and white coconut, i felt so festive just making to…

Juicing Question

I recently read that if organic, I can leave the peel on oranges & pineapples when I juice them. I have been leaving the peel on lemons but it never occurred to me to leave it on oranges for some reason. :o) With lemons, I notice my juice is a little more bitter when I leave the peel on. Does anyone here leave the peel on with oranges and pineapples and does it affect the taste of the juice? Is it something I'll just become accustomed to? I'm fairly new to juicing…

My 'Banberry Protein Chia Porridge'

It is my first Sunday in 4 or 5 weeks where i am not working (yay!), there is something comforting about being home with the family on the weekend :) Sundays is also the day we usually make different breakfasts, i make pancakes on special occasions  dad usually makes porridge, and today i made a smooth and delicious 'Banberry Protein Chia Porridge!' If there was one breakfast which could be a desert it is this one... truthfully it is derived from a Chia Pudding recipe from …

Another First!

I just finished straining my first ever batch of Rejuvelac! I am planning on putting it in my green smoothie in the morning.  I can't wait, it's going to be so good. I made 2 quarts and then I combined the berries and refilled one of the jars to make a third quart.

I'm planning on using the left over wheat berries to make flax crackers.  Does anyone have any recipes or suggestions for me? I would greatly appreciate it.

A New Weights Workout and My Re-fueling Protein Choc Rock Breakfast!

Coming to the end of 5 weeks of raw food transitions my raw breakfasts have become a wonderful nutritious and tasty foundation to my new diet! It has now been 4 days since i started a new weights appraisal and apart from feeling a little sore (in a good way) i feel great! The whole body weights which i thought would be very similar to pump make certain muscles sore which i haven't felt in a while! It makes me realise that although i feel stronger than i have been i still have so far i can go…

I am continuing to wean from paxil. I'm down to 17.5 mgs. I started at 30 mgs 3 months ago. I have had NO negative side effects to speak of.

Still eating very high raw, about 90%, vegan 99.5%, but I did have veal parm at a Christmas party last Friday.

Today, I started to walk again. I did 1.5 miles. This program suggested that you not exerise unless you already were active but I just can't stand the feeling of my gut being on my lap…

Raw Food Cleanse book as a stocking stuffer!

As you probably know, our fearless leader Penni Shelton wrote a fabulous paperback book that you can purchase through places like or Barnes and Noble.

I have a copy and love the indepth information and great recipes!

Perhaps this would be a great gift to yourself or someone you know that is interested in raw foods.

It feels good to be back!

It's been months since I last posted anything and wow, have things changed since then! It makes my head spin! Without going into many morbid details lets just say I'm facing the next year 360 degrees opposite of what I expected.  Because of this huge change, I find myself a little lost with more time on my hands than I've had in more than 10 months. What to do..what to do.. There's always housecleaning & laundry. Ugh...boring. There's painting that the house we recently moved into needs,…

My thoughts to the Newton school family's

My thoughts go to all the families affected by this atrocious event at the Newton School....we should not have to send our children to school to never see them again...let alone before Christmas.

I dream of a peaceful world, this is my wish for 2013.
