Correction to recipe for "FANTASTIC NO-FAT DRESSING"
My sister, Maggie-Rose made a meal for my mom and I last week, and the salad dressing she made was so delicious, I just have to share it with you. My sister does not follow a raw diet, but she is supportive of my efforts to do so with my mom. She knows mom's life depends on eating a high raw diet, so she uses her culinary skills to try to invent dishes that fit in with our regime. So she sets aside all her old favorite gourmet dishes that…

Smoothie/Juicing starting tomorrow
It's been a loooooonnnnggg time since I've posted a blog.
Needless to say 2011 was far from fabulous...I've decided to start 2012 out right by doing a 14 day smoothie/juice cleanse. Going to need to borrow my grandma's juicer as it seems mine has turned into a pulper!! :(
I'm more fond of my smoothies anyway...I have never tried for longer than 3 days, but I'm committed to a full 14. I got the toxic people out of my life...time to get my body and mind…

Although I got up yesterday morning with the best of intentions...made a quart of red grapefruit juice and was drinking it.....life got in the way, so my juice feast was postponed until today. Today I got up, started on the leftover grapefruit juice from yesterday, drank 12 oz or so..then went out running errands. I didn't bring any juice with me as I knew I had water, and thought that would be enough. It might have been if I hadn't eaten alot of cooked food yesterday, but I started…

Questions on Buying My First Vitamix
Yes, it's true!!! I am taking the plunge into more serious raw food preparation territory. And I feel absolutely intoxicated with the thought of pulverizing insoluble healthy kale fibers and other goodies in my own Vitamix and making delicious green smoothies.
As a Vitamix and raw food novice, I have questions that I hope some of you might be able to answer. I am trying to do this on a budget. I will write the following questions in list form in order to be…

I blogged the other day about my family wanting to do a 10 day smoothie fast. It wasn't my idea, either! I think I will treat this like an initiative in that we will all weigh in each week, have a starting weight and measurements along with photos. It will be a motivator if they can see their own progress. Sunday I'll buy a couple day's worth of greens to get us all started. I'll teach them all how to use the Vita-mix and what to use for…

On the last day of the year,
Perhaps we should all cheer
And say good-bye to what is gone.
Then set our sights and move right on
To embrace what the New Year brings.
On the last day of this year,
Perhaps we should just clear
Our hearts and minds of all the fear,
The pain and strain that cost so dear
but taught what we needed to know.
On the last day of this…

Super Simple Raw Vegan Recipe Book Idea
EDIT: Thanks everyone! I'm going to go for it! :) I can't post many details here because it would be against the house rules, but I think that it's against house rules too to "solicit" PMs- so I really dunno how you can follow this if you want to. *shrug*
I know there's a TON of recipes…

Today is Dec. 30th, 2011. I weigh around 188 lbs, would like to weigh 168. I am 56 years old, around 5'11" tall. I am fairly healthy, and eat fairly well, but too much cooked food recently. I have had candida for most of my adult life...it mostly doesn't bother me...but it is definitely there. I have a goal of being fit and fabulous by my 57th birthday...next June 10, which is also my mother's 85th birthday (same day) and we are having a big family get together and I want to wow and…

Dehydrated Strawberriessss (yum??)
Can I hear a Yum? lol
Currently dehydrating 2 trays of strawberries and I have to tell you, within 10 minutes my whole kitchen smelled like strawberry potpourri. I feel like sing "Strawberries Fields Forever" by the Beatles (granted, I know the song isn't really talking about fruit---that's a whole…

Tomorrow starts 90 days of Juicing!!
Tomorrow I will embark on my 90 day juice feast! I would love to have some company! I have spent the last few days preparing my kitchen (and my mind!) for the next 90 days. I have read a tremendous amount about juicing long term and have been following my fellow RFR who have been on this journey.
By the way, can I just mention who much I love the RFR website! We are so lucky to have this outlet :)
Happy (almost) New Years!

New Year, New Goals, New You!
5 Tips For Successful Resolutions
The celebration of the New Year is the oldest of all holidays dating back to 153 B.C. when Janus, a mythical king of early Rome, was placed at the head of the calendar. The Romans named the first month of the year after…

Time to share
I have been a member here at Raw Food Rehab for a bit now. I haven't really participated at all because it just wasn't time. It's a big decision to change your lifestyle, and I didn't want to commit to that change until I knew I was ready. I have been feeling the change coming on for a while, and I finally made the commitment on December 26th. That was the first day of my Juice Feast. Now I am in the early afternoon of day 5 of the feast, and I am sipping on my grapefruit/orange juice…

Celebrating New Year's - suggestions?
Hello everyone!
Hope you are doing well! Any suggestions/ideas for celebrating New Year's? Traditionally, it's either been at a party or watching the countdown on tv.....
I'd like to get away from the commercialism of it and enjoy it in a more pure, loving way.
Please share any ideas for either couples or non-couples. Many thanks!!

A Year's Reflection...Following Raw
My name is Retha Cheek but I am also known by my pen name Roxy Harte. Over the past three years I experienced a myriad of health problems that left me unable to work or enjoy life to its fullest. At the suggestion of my friend Tricia Moore, I tried a raw food diet, and after an online search found Raw Food Rehab. I am down 55 pounds, off all medications and pain relievers, my high blood pressure and high cholesterol are back to healthy ranges, my migraines from food allergies and joint pain…

Wow!
Been so long since I updated. These last few weeks have been crazy. Between the semester ending and work and the break up, ugh..I don't know why I have not drowned myself in a bucket of ice cream, but I HAVEN'T. I have got to find me an alternative for ranch dressing, I don't eat much of it, but its addictive.I cannot wait for the new year because of so many possibilities. So much good stuff is coming I can feel it. Graduation, hopefully a full time job in my field as well as my job I still…

Staples
There's a thread here about what your staple raw meals are. I wanted to record for myself what my standbys are at this point.
1. Green smoothies - they usually contain 2-3 types of fruit, chia seeds, spirulina, and a handful of something else - wheatgrass, spinach, kale, leaves from garden, edible weeds etc.
2. The throw-it-together-in-2-minutes salad: baby spinach, baby tomatoes and raw cheddar with homemade dressing.
3. The other often-seen…
