I've been kind of bummed that my scale isn't budging. Kicking it across the room doesn't count. I've lost maybe 2 lbs since going high raw (mostly vegan, gluten-free) a month or so ago and I'm not living on avocados. I have a looooong way to go and it's frustrating.
I did notice, however, that my taste buds are changing. This morning I took my 5 yr old to Whole Foods for our week's shopping trip. He wanted to hit the breakfast bar first, then shop, so I obliged. I just wanted… Continue

Last week I made sure I had a green smoothie each day. I avoided meat the whole week and dairy most days but I ate lots of refined sugar and starch.
Today was a new day and a new week for me. I started with a liter of water, followed by a banana, a ginormous salad with herbs, romaine, spinache, radichio, cabbage, yellow peppers, red peppers, cucumbers, carrots and brocoli with some raisins, dried cranberries, walnuts, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds.
I spent the last 10 days in Palm Springs, California for my new job. It was such a wonderful learning experience and I really enjoy working with kids (I can add nanny to my resume:), but at times the stress lead to extreme exhaustion and less than perfect food choices. The great thing about where I was in California was that so much was in season and we had lots of citrus fruit trees on the property, the down falls were a chef who didn't quite understand what raw-vegan meant, and traveling with… Continue
Yep- I should be celebrating. I am officially closer to weighing 200 lbs than weighing 210. I should be jumping for joy but instead I am miserable. I am having another bad outbreak with my psoriasis. It is happening every other week or so. I was in bed for 2 days and now I am sitting on the couch so I can keep a better eye on the kids. All I really want to be doing is running around, playing with the kids, and having a grand time. I didn't have psoriasis before going vegan. Sometimes I have to… Continue

I must be doing something right because the universe keeps blessing me with beautiful sleep while I'm on call. I wake up smiling and so grateful when I look at the clock and realize that I've slept through the whole night without even a phone call to wake me up. Thank you universe.
Drank water upon waking and had a leisurely morning.
Breakfast: 1 pint kale, celery, apple juice
1 dropperful marine phytoplankton chased with 1 tsp. royal jelly
Sometimes it seems the rough times among our days feel like they are never going to end... And that the fun, easy-going times are fleeting...as the time passes so quickly...
I love the above quote, "What does not kill us, makes us stronger." The first time I heard this quote was in the movie, Steel Magnolias.
LAUGHTER THROUGH TEARS IS MY FAVORITE EMOTION! This is my most favorite movie...of…
Had a wonderful Thanksgiving, not even the slightest bit of temptation but then Friday I was with a client on a job and had lunch with him and his workers. I drank a wonderful green juice and they ate roasted chicken, beans, tortillas and salsa. I felt fine but it was his comments that seemed to wear me down. He couldn’t understand my food chocies and kept trying to get me to eat what they were having. When I said we had a raw Thanksgiving- he said “that sounds awful!” I said no it was very… Continue

It just figures. Most days I am not even usually hungry and feel I subsist mostly on juice, but today I woke up hungry. Started the morning out with my all-time favorite cucumber/granny smith/celery juice. After getting home from church made grapefruit juice. About 2 hours later, had a carrot and sweet potatoe juice. Then I caved about 3 hours later. My "juice feast" ended around 5-ish today when I remembered the fudge balls in the freezer that I had made last night. So I probably od'd on… Continue

I felt pretty good for the most part although I did have some stomach discomfort in the evening. And some pretty serious food cravings at night too. I decided to fill my mind with all things juice so looked up juicing videos online, etc. It helped.
I had a few energy lulls although for the most part I was pretty… Continue

I am doing a 8 day juice feast. Starting today I will drink goji water and water with lemon.
Here is a menu of what I will be drinking throughout the week.
It is important to be organized while doing a juice fast. I have printed out my menu and I will hang it in the kitchen. When I wake up each day I will juice for the day and store them in glass mason jars. I work a 42 hour week and I go to school 2 nights a week. I am also a wife and mother. Being Organized is the key for me in… Continue

I was inspired by Heera's blog post and decided to start juicing today. I was going to wait until Tuesday because my Brother is staying with me tomorrow before heading home to Boston but really why wait? I am so ready to do this! I have been wrestling with feeling bad about totally blowing it on Friday and just allowing myself to throw the whole day away because I started eating cooked in the morning. I don't want to be the person who justifies their behavior or makes excuses anymore. I want to… Continue
Today November 29, 2009 I will be commencing my 33 day Juice Feast~
I have been meaning to do a juice feast for a longgg time now - I did a 5 day juice fast (www.organicavenue.com) at the beginning of the summer and stayed %95 raw all summer until I hit back into Ithaca for my second last semester of architecture school. It has definitely been a challenge being 100% raw without having my comfort zones of juice bars, fruit stands and amazing… Continue
