Tribute to the Lady In The Tutti-Frutti Hat

I know many people will dress like her today in their Halloween costume, so what better day to send up a tribute to Carmen Miranda, the Lady in the Tutti-Frutti Hat!

Yes, there is a Carmen Miranda museum even!

Many people have imitated…

Slip up- So not worth it!

Don't worry I'm not naming foods! This blog is safe to read.

Last night someone was craving a comfort meal and it was not raw. Since I am not trying to be 100% anything, I thought this would be ok and didn't stress about it or cause a fuss. We don't have cooking capabilities in our home anymore except the microwave and I am really trying to never use that again.

So we wandered around town trying to find a good place to find this…

How about I just shut my mouth, nod my head, and smile? Or atleast try to smile :)

I guess I am just getting frustrated with the fact that no one seems to understand the health benefits related to a raw, and/or vegan lifestyle. I've given up months ago trying to explain my decision. It just makes people frustrated, mainly because they know that their diet is bad/terrible/freakishly unapealing. The only people around me who seem to understand my dietary choices are a few friends, and some of my family. I was visiting the junk food addict side of the family the other day,…

Just checking in...

Man, it has been a very busy week. DH and I went to Columbus to start Christmas shopping on Monday. We finished the kids so that is awesome. I worked a little more this week... three days instead of two. (I know, "cry me a river.." lol) Our community had trick or treat on Thursday evening. If this is the way the holidays are going to start, I'm in trouble. LOL

I am so psyched this week...I went grocery shopping at a local Meijer store. It's the same type of store as WalMart, but… Continue

Wow: Who'd have thunk I'd like juice feasting?

Okay, well, Dave, Penni, Lucy and Susan all knew I would like it, but I really didn't think I would.

Day one of my first ever juice feast is over and done with, and let me tell you, It was so easy!! Since I just decided to do it without any fore planning, my first half gallon of juice was horrible. Okay, it wasn't so bad, but it's something I know my family would not have liked at all. I basically just opened up the fridge and took everything I had and juiced it. LOL. It was…

Well, my reason was because I got Alissa Cohen's new book "Raw Food for Everyone. I actually got it 2 days ago, but I could not get to like I wanted to until today. I was comfy in my bed with the pillow and I begin to read and digest, my toes curled up and here is why: It is well put together. I had the experience of eating at her former restaurant Grezzo in Boston in 2008. I loved my food, especially the sliders and gnocchi and those recipe is in here. They were heavenly. Even if you are a…

Reflecting on Week 1 of my Re-Commitment

What an interesting time in my life I've chosen to recommit to raw foods again :)

Just 2 months ago I left my full time job to pursue full time school, taking a lower-wage part time job. It was a leap of faith - one I knew I had to make!

So, here I am, having finished 1 week of being "raw" again...It's been amazing!

Having left my full time job for part time hours, I'd started to say and started to believe that I could not eat a diet of raw foods because it was "too… Continue

Thank you for sharing my birhday with me. This was the best party I have ever had and it was fat-free. What a celebration from my friends. It was my double nickel birthday, and although I did not do anything spectacular, well for me, BREATHING IS SPECTACULAR. I was born a very happy, cuddly, not wrinkled, reddish brown, with sandy hair, just shy of nine pounds. My life's beginning should have been the pattern for my life, because my delivery was smooth, and peaceful. BUT,…

There's that thing that I want to share..if u would excuse me

Im feeling a lot more confident telling people that I am eating. I used to feel shy.

I decided to let it out.

I have been a bulimic for some time. I am now a recovering one. It all started when I figured that my boyfriend was cheating on me. I started thinking that I do not look good, that I needed to lose weight. I started binging from the depression. I got even more depressed when I felt ugly. Why would my boyfriend cheat on me if I looked…

Cooked food woes

I usually eat a cooked vegan meal everyday. Some days I have been 100% raw but usually my weekday dinners are cooked vegan. At work on Wednesday, I was caught unprepared and ended up heating up a pre-packaged vegetarian (with oil and milk) Indian meal imported from India. I ate about 1/2 cup and my stomach has been angry with me ever since. :( Not worth… Continue

Feelin' Groovy!

I have been high raw for almost a full week and I am really feelin' the raw love!

I decided this time around, no rules, no ultimatums, just doing it best that I can.

In the past I have set out to do all smoothies for a period of time, 30 days raw and all kinds of other things. I stressed about it or set…

Pain in intestines?? possible gallbladder??

I have been having pain under my ribcage, middle of abdomen. If my stomach is empty it really hurts, such as in the morning. I've had people tell me it's my gallbladder. My husband looked up the symptoms and I don't have them, only the pain. I have noticed that it seems to happen after I eat cheese. Unless it's in my head.

Clearly this is a sign to go higher raw. :) It feels that I have gas bubbles moving through my intestines and then I either burp or it exits below :S Anyone…
