Today was a high raw day, as I allowed myself some extras when I took my son out for lunch.
Breakfast: green smoothie (frozen pineapple, frozen banana, spinach, 3 T. of chia gel)
Lunch: Red, White & Blue Salad at the Black Eyed Pea: spinach, romaine, fresh blueberries and strawberries, feta, chicken breast and pecans with a strawberry vinaigrette, 1 roll (that I wish I hadn't eaten) - I'd like to go back and have this salad again but ask them to leave off… Continue

You really have to be careful about the negative affirmations or negative thoughts you allow to take root in your heart and come out of your mouth...especially when you have children. I try to think pretty positive but I've noticed when I am feeling down about something my middle son will come and sit beside me and try to comfort me and make me feel better. It makes me realize that my attitude shines through. Children are so unselfish, well unspoiled ones that is. It's funny when I reprimand my… Continue

Just opened the files for the "Falling Into Raw" Initiative, and it looks like participants in the Initiative are in for a very good Fall!!! With such gorgeous recipes, along with outstanding photographs illustrating each dish, I can hardly wait for 'The Fall'
to begin. Such tantalizing recipes will no doubt make 'Falling into Raw',

Probably the most significant challenge/stumbling block for me in my efforts to adopt and maintain a raw lifestyle has been my social life. Everything seems to revolve around food. As a vegetarian, it's challenging to go out with friends or attend a dinner party. Usually people are willing to accommodate you as a vegetarian. It's not always without resentment, though. Then there is the response of those you are with. Something along the lines of oh, but you're a vegetarian.… Continue

here's what I'm noticing
spontaneous outbursts of energy and the desire to move and exercise (magnets on couch have been removed perhaps?)
outbreaks of doing the 'happy dance' in my kitchen as I savor the newest raw creation (i live alone - but sometimes I get so much joy goin' on I want to grab people off the street and say , hey taste this!)
increased sensitivity (already been told all my life - you're too sensitive) to… Continue

...to join Ivault4.0 with me! I'm normally not into joining into things that require me to reveal more of myself than I'm normally comfortable with to a large group of folks. I'm generally more of a one on one kind of sharer, till I get to know you, so it was a LARGE leap of faith for me.
If I can do it? Please see if you can't do it too!!! Please...… Continue

Well today started out fantastic. I committed this morning to starting 1 month 99% Raw. I am excited about the Vault that starts tomorrow and thought I would get a jump start.
Breakfast was good..
I had lots of fresh fruit (1/3 a cantaloupe, 2 banana and a peach) over a 3-4 hour period.. then around noon I had a nice green juice (not a smoothie.. a strained juice - an apple, red… Continue

I slept for 10-hours. I definitely must have needed it. I woke up feeling like I was hit by a truck though - another sign of detox I'm familiar with. Woke up at 4:45 AM and went for a run. It was difficult for some reason, but I felt lighter and took it easy.
I'm not sure how I'm feeling… Continue

I am going to give this a shot.. still not exactly sure how photo albums work. I seem to have single photos in albums instead of groups of photos in albums.. trying to figure it out..

I have got to do better!! It is just so hard for me to take a few minutes out of each day and journal or blog! I need to keep track of my progress throughout the initiative. How do you remind yourself to journal or blog? Before I know the day is gone and then I start to forget each day's events. *sigh*

Hmmm - I've surprised myself. I've actually been 100% raw today.
A smoothie for breakfast: watermelon, celery, apple, lemon
Lunch: a salad with a hemp seed dressing (recipe found in the RFR kitchen): lettuce, cucumber, tomato, raw nuts and a few golden berries
Supper: another quart of smoothie leftover from breakfast
Snack: a chocolate treat: raw cocoa, T. coconut oil, T. agave
I want to learn to use my dehydrator. I… Continue

Friday is my start day, What do I need to do now that I've set some goals? Well, more prep work. I've designed a menu based on what I prefer, my lifestyle, and my goals. First - simple. Second - as a full time student, my mid-day food needs to be portable and filling. And pretty tidy to eat. Third - 1500 calories a day. More or less. The plan? Green smoothies for breakfast. Fruit throughout the day. Salad for dinner.
So after school tomorrow, I have a stop at Costco… Continue

Here I am again... Well, I KNOW that I am supposed to be RAW in this life because I keep coming back to it. :D
I am excited to have just joined The Vault. I am interested to see if it helps hold me accountable. I am a really good self-saboteur. Errr... At least I'm aware of it. When I used to be RAW in college, it was totally mindless and simple. I actually COULDN'T eat other food. I had developed a mental block/fear of most foods. So, I lived on salads with oil and vinegar… Continue
