Juice Feast Day 5
Last night I cooked turkey Italian sausage and mashed potato's and green beans for my kids. That was a fairly difficult undertaking because I was showing my 13 year old how to cook...so no headphones!
Then last night I woke up because I was dreaming about that same meal and I was now hungry! I meditated for 15 minutes and went back to sleep. That was some serious hunger pains I'll tell you.
I find that during the day at work is the easiest because I'm busy and I can follow a…

Juice Feast Day 4
It's day 4 of the feast and I'm feeling really good. I started adding more pure vegetables juices yesterday and that seemed to do the trick. I also started really concentrating on drinking more water.
The fruit based juice was getting too sweet for me, so I've shifted more to veggies. On my first fast I tried going mostly vegetables from the start and that made the fast a lot harder for me for some reason. I suppose everyone is different.
I found a trick for having to cook…
How much is too much?
I am worried about the sugar content in some of my juices and raw fruit, Diabetes runs in the family.
I'd love to think that we could eat whatever we want on Raw but I think I must have that wrong considering how many calories there are in a slice of my raw pizza. 687 calories per slice on an 8 slice pizza!
Any suggestions on how much fructose and good fat is too much?

To all my brothers and sisters:

3rd Day 75% Raw
I was so extremeley nauseated yesterday and with an unbelievable headache. I finally vomited. Today is much better. I am not one bit hungry at all. My energy comes and goes. I have alot of anxiety and feel jittery and nervous. I have some body aches and am very tired. I would really like a nap but am working.

Juice Feast Day 3
So far so good. I'm actually surprised that it's not harder but it may be the fact I was already eating raw for a while when I started this fast. I did a fast about 4 months ago and it was not as easy as this. My advice is try to eat raw before starting the juice fast. In my case it's actually made a difference or maybe I just haven't hit the wall yet! :)
The way I feel now I may go a bit longer than the week, but I'm taking it one week at a time.

Remembering…
There is an up-coming anniversary date next week that I cannot help but acknowledge. It is looming large before me and, I think, has been the catalyst for all my tears these past couple of days. Maybe if I talk about it, I can get past it. Who knows.
On Sunday, September the second, it will mark exactly one year since Chuck stepped out of his trucking job….permanently.
Trucking was what he did for basically the past 16…

Day 16!
Hi RFR Friends!
I've arrived at Day 16 of my juice feast. It's been great so far! A couple things I've noticed:
1) The experience of not eating gets easier.
I volunteer in a healthy cooking class for patients at UCSD. It's an awesome class (mostly cooked, macrobiotic-influenced cuisine) and the food always smells great. I volunteered the first day of my juice fast and it was definitely a bit challenging. However,…

2ND DAY
I am trying to go at least 75% raw. Yesterday I had some caffeine but today none and have a terrible pounding headache. Plus, I am really tired and just want to sleep. I am having some cooked vegetables for dinner and some beans. I hope the headache disappears tomorrow. I also am feeling anxious and my body temp is fluctuating wildly.

Sick & Tired (literally): a Confession
It's been a while since I've been here... A few years back I was high raw, fit & fabulous! I had lost 70lbs, was walking, cycling, doing hot yoga & I felt the best I ever had... Then it all went downhill at an alarming rate...
My level of stress at work sky-rocketed, especially when people started noticing the weight-loss & started getting mean: you're too skinny (I was 162lbs & 5ft 5) you're starving yourself, etc. But my biggest shift came when I decided to start…

Juice Feast Day Two
Although I've been on three day juice feasts, I've never attempted a week before.
Day one as expected was a down day as far as energy. I made sure to not have anything planned for that very reason.
As expected day two is much much better and I'm at work, which actually makes juicing a little easier for me.
I know I'll make the entire week, but I'm starting to think about going a bit longer. ;^) I'll play that by ear I suppose.
More later...

My very first 5K for animals!!
I am very excited, a little nervous & feeling supremely lazy as of late!! I signed up to run my very first 5K for PETA~ People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals~ on November 11th. My back has been hurting, I have very tight muscles & ligaments in my hips (perhaps from not doing yoga & getting massages after the birth of my son 21 months ago!!) and no proper running shoes, so I do have good reason for not necessarily 'hitting the road running' right out of the gate, but I am…
