On June 4th, 2011 I went “Cold Turnip” and was overnight 95% raw. I don’t know why or what triggered the dramatic change in lifestyle, but I LOVE IT!
I was at my son and LDIL (Lovely Daughter In-Law) house when he asked me to pick up their cat. So with a grunt I managed to fill my arms with an 18 lb ball of soft orange mini Lion! He said to me……………”Congratulations, you have lost our cat in weight plus 2 lbs!”
Walking around for a few minutes…Continue
Haven't blog for a long time and that is not good. I had a bad 4 weeks, really really tired, too much work and too long hours at work where I got distracted and ate too late, too early when I wasn't even hungry but that was the only window of time I had etc...... no time, no discipline I just blew everything with too much work, too tired.
But.....I am the perfect example of how you can distroy you diet. It is not because I am too tired or I have too much work, eat too late and what…Continue
First off, a belated thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes!
I haven't had much time online to blog, as I'm working at a summer camp all summer. I love camp, but the food is honestly killing me! I miss raw so much. I fantasize about actual fresh vegetables at mealtimes. One can only deal with pasta and cheese for so long.
I have come across a bit of a diet dilemma, however. I've finally given up on the "hot" meals, and am practically living off of salads…Continue
It's been a while since I've checked in but I wanted to say hello.

Hi! I've been a RFR'er for quite a while now and wanted let fellow rehabbers that a new raw cafe is open! We're in northern California (Sacramento area) and actually serve high raw (about 90% or more is raw -- salads, smoothies, ice cream and more but we also have a daily cooked soup and bread/wraps for sandwiches). The entire cafe is vegan. The emphasis is on healthy, affordable, and fresh organic food.
You can find us by searching the web on the restaurant's…Continue
They said you wouldn't make is so far uh uh
And ever since they said it, it's been hard
But nevermind the nights you had to cry
Cause you have never let it go inside
You worked real hard
It's been awhile since I posted. I don't know what exactly happened; other then life getting the best of me. But before this 11 week initiative started I decided to start a week before it actually started! I was revved up. That week went by fine --my commitment and dedication didn't waiver. Then one evening after work, without a single though I found myself ordering a bean burrito --ate it and it was downhill from there. But I'm realizing that this doesnt need to be an all or none…Continue
Thank you Susan for the gentle nudge...
I haven't been blogging or partiscipating very much. This has been one of the hardest weeks in a very, very, very long time. It started with the bicycle accident and all the added pain and decreased mobility that brought...and ended with me being taken by ambulance to the hospital this afternoon, pretty sure I was going to die.
I was just listening to a talk by Brian Clements which was very interesting and informative and he said that the water of young coconuts was very hydrating etc (which we know if we've been here long enough) BUT he said to keep away from the meat and the coconut butter.....don't know why.
Now I'm very confused : (

I haven't been blogging lately, because my life has been very stressful lately, especially at home. My relationship with my husband has been shaky for the last few days. It has to do with my 25 year old son who is living with us, his lack of ambition (he is working, but it is only part time) and whether our relationship can take the stress of being close to declaring bankruptsy. My husband and I finally starting really talking since Wednesday night. We have…Continue

The Whole Foods in Glastonbury, CT, held its raw foods extravaganza today. This is <1/2 mile from my house, so you can bet your bippy I was going! I'm mostly juice feasting, but gave myself permission to enjoy the yummy samples at this event. I had a big green juice before going, so I wouldn't be…Continue
Believe it or not, I have never made fruit leathers but was thinking this would be good for our trip. Anyone have any combos they recommend? Do you just blend like a smoothie and pour onto teflex sheet? How long do you dehydrate for? Do you need to roll in parchment paper?
Would love any help with this. Thank you!
Ever the gastronomically curious, I wanted to try using chia seeds. It took me awhile to find some but it did happen.
Inspired by a video by Mimi Kirk I made the following…Continue
I can't believe a month has gone by since my last blog post here, but after a year and a half of raw goodness, I guess I've graduated to LIVING it more than reading/writing about it. It just keeps getting better and better. Some pics and snippets from the past week:
