E!

I'm looking back on today with a chuckle. Some of today's activities:

1. Walked 3 mi. w/ my mom.
2. Filled the dehydrator w/ greens (to make into green powder for winter) and raw breads.
3. Scoped out Craig's List for exercise equipment. Decided I have enough already.
4. Made blueberry cardamom cheesecake from Sweetly Raw.
5. Walked ~3 more miles w/ my son.
6. Realized the clothes I bought at the beginning of this…

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE

Today, we are travelling to a celebration of life for the father of a friend. This man and his wife raised his children with strong work ethics, examples of loving relationships and common sense. As he felt his body betray him, and then his mind began to slip, he held steadfast to love he had for his children. He did not remember their names, he remembered their hearts. My friend is standing with his mother as he prepares for this day.

I realize today that it is important to not get… Continue

Commitment

"Commitment. Honor your words. Stay steadfast on your path. Remain dependable and

engaged amid the flux of life’s choices and activities."

Words I just got from a friend. You've no idea how much I needed those words today. I always tell people to be patient and stay the course and the good things will come. After 5 years eating high raw, I'm losing confidence that those words will ever ring true for me when it comes to losing weight. I need to remember the other good things that… Continue

What's am I eating?

Yes, I have lost a few lbs over the last three weeks, but I am eating. Eating three meals a day in fact. Lately I have been getting into eating something and I eat the same thing over and over again. I realize this isn't for everyone but it works for me right now. Tomatoes are in season and I love tomatoes.

Those yummy new recipes from Penni are going to be used this weekend! Greek salad is my favourite! That salsa looks delicious too. I bought a few pounds of tomatoes last night so I… Continue

Can you all give me some advice on how to break my coffee habit in the mornings. I am down to about 1/2-1 cup but I use flavored sweetner. I am doing prett well transitioning on my own. I am eating mainly fruits, veggies, nuts and I am still consuming some cooked fish and chicken (but i have reduced my servings to maybe once a day. I am finding that I am not craving it as much. Also I have heard so much hype on vitiamins. Could someone please break it down for me as to which vitamins I should… Continue

Why do I stay stuck? (Emotional eating)

Hi all,

I'm hoping you lovely people can help me shed some light... on myself.

My name is Cari and I eat ice cream emotionally. I've been doing it for years. It was never an issue, just something I was aware of. Then in 2001 I gained 20 in a year from ice cream, it was a hard year. Now, I've been eating lots of ice cream for about a month now.

I grew up in a stressful family (only child, single mother that would vent her anger onto me which was scary cuz I never… Continue

Fantastic Friday!

Today was a great day (especially compared to yesterday!). I'm hoping my energy levels keep up. I've noticed that I'm getting "bouncier" which translates to "happier" in Nicollette's language.

ETA: Ack! I lied. I had chia pudding. :P I was trying hard to think fast!… Continue

Get out and do it!!

Okay my day was not all that exciting cleaning the house but I turned up the music and danced my way through! Did some weeding in my garden and then hula hooped for almost a half hour! My girlfriend makes the hoops and it really is fun. Got work done on my bmer so it is in tip top shape for my adventure which starts on Sunday. Does anyone else feel that getting ready to take off on a vacation or an adventure is a lot of work? I have been making food....onion bread, lemon cookies, ginger…

STOP CUSSING

As a teenager, I was laying on the telephone one night, talking with my friends, a little this, a little that and some cussing. After the conversation, my Dad rounded the corner and said to me that profanity was the tool of an ignorant person –please for those of you are reading this, I am not talking about you, so don’t own it. I am looking at him incredulous, and thinking, my Daddy just called me ignorant.- OOH, reeally emoticon . He went on further to explain to me that words can carry… Continue

Open letter to Penni and the great people at RFR

I have been trying to lose the extra 25 lbs I had put on from a car accident and multiple surgeries for the last couple of years. I was eating right, but didn’t seem to budge on the scale. My doctor and I talked about it every visit. I went to my nutritionist and tweaked my diet, but still nothing. I went to the gym 3 or 4 times a week, did yoga (albeit not routinely as I used to), and walked. I don’t drive or own a car so I rely on my feet and public…

Yay... it arrived!

My new Blender Pro, just like a Magic Bullet only without the fancy brand name... just like a Home Brand product. And so far I love it :D I've already made a smoothie in two mugs... great... straight off the power base, pop a sippy ring on and drink away. The real bonus is that there is no longer a big bulky blender to wash and no trying to get my hand and sponge down to the blade to clean around that... what a pain that is!!!

Tonight I'll test it again with some tahini/cheese…

I AM FREE

Cleaning my kitchen was inspired and necessitated by an exploding cantaloupe. I knew that thing had some issues when I moved it and it burped. BUT how in the world, did it think it was okay to do that in my kitchen - seeds everywhere, juice, it looked liked a smooshed football. Hubby: Jacki, we got a mess down here at 5:12 this morning. I was not thinking of awaking early this a.m. Besides, where did the we come from, I am not Tanto to his Lone Ranger at 5:12 this morning. Not to day babe.… Continue

Raw France

Just got back from 2 weeks in France, which was fantastic from a food perspective (and beach, sunshine, wine, and stylish automobile perspectives). I thought I'd eaten white peaches before, but not like these; amazing. The markets were laden with fruits & veges, and raw milk cheeses for thems whats eats 'em. Regrettably, raw pain au chocolat were nowhere to be found.
