No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!
It keeps coming to my mind. Our church service was so awesome this morning.
Galations 5:19-26 from the Message translation.
True freedom is given by God. With this true freedom, much is required as far as being a servant to others.
I am being drawn to a fast. I'm gonna start the next few days with fruitsand smoothies and maybe end the week with juices all day for a few days. It feels right spiritually.
The doctors appointment went well. I was honest about how I've been doing--that I have had small victories like no more acid reflux and indigestion, but that I wasn't sure about how much better my arthritis was getting. My doctor is supportive of what she calls my, "dietary therapy," (eating the way we do here :) ), and she thinks that I should keep doing it, but she also is worried that waiting another month without going on Humira or Embrel is adding on to my risk of permanently losing…Continue
Well today is the day of the appt. Dear God, I do NOT want to go on this medication. I know I'm going to have people around me who strongly advocate going on this medication.. here's what I've been thinking about and why I'm still so lost:
I've had arthritis since I was 13 years old. I was a skinny, hyperactive, very happy, energetic child in both ballet classes and swimming lessons--things that really should be keeping you limber. I did just as much junk food as most…Continue
I told someone on here I'd be posting that day and then I ended up not doing so!! I apologize. Life's full of distractions and also I don't have dependable home internet service (data plan that continually runs out, and no car to go to the library with free will). Shouldn't have made the promise to begin with.
Well it's been 4 months on all produce (other than chia and flax)... I'm not sure what to do because I have not noticed any significant changes with my arthritis,…Continue
Somehow I keep forgetting about the present - the moment that actually counts, the moment I'll never get back as I waste it wishing for different outcomes, ("if only I'd started and stuck with eating raw a year and half ago when I started the first time just think where I'd be now")without actually changing my habits and choices. Or, spending 3/4's of my free time thinking about what I want out of life in the future, yet not actually doing anything to get there. ("I'd like to teach people…Continue
I wound up more or less giving up, as it seemed that we just lacked funds and willpower to be able to stick to anything long-term. And I have struggled for the past almost two years. Big time struggles.
Several months ago, we started seeing info-mercials about the NutriBullet, and it intrigued us. We decided that we'd try to get one when we got our tax refund this year. Coincidentally, a major discount retailer has started carrying this blender at a lower price than what…Continue
So, I am thinking of teaching classes in cultured/and fermented foods (not beer, wine or mead). I would love to know what you would like to see taught. What are your thoughts on topics, recipes and class length? What would you expect to pay for this class?
(Also, if anyone has any…Continue
So, this past month has been loaded with family time with all sorts of distant relatives, them coming here and us going there. I don't even think I have to expound upon this matter.
Anyhow, series of events has me wanting to step up to the endeavor of 30-days on liquids only. The craziness of this past month certainly has my skin looking less than resilient and clothes fitting snuggly again. Aside from that, I believe the challenge would certainly strive towards strengthening…Continue
Ok, no I didn't. That's a lie. I was at a clinic (I work in health care) and the scale was there and I am feeling so good and so curious and before I knew it I was taking off my shoes...and purse...and badge (because you know that weighs an ounce AT LEAST) and stepping on the scale. On purpose.
It was a reckless decision. Weigh ins have been my un-doing more than once. Either I am surprised I have not lost more (or anything! that's the worst) and get depressed, or I see I've…Continue
I know someone who was recently diagnosed with cardiac sarcoidosis and is having a really hard time. It is an rare auto-immune disease. I believe there is a link between what we eat and many disease- does anyone have any information on this specific topic or know of someone... like a nutritionist in the LI/NYC region that specializes in this disorder? Any information will help.

I am going on vacation with my family next week to LA to spend time on the beach and checking out schools as well as apartments out there to relocate hopefully this year.
I am hoping I can find some delicious Raw Food Restaurants out in LA - North Hollywood Valley or downtown LA.
Hope I can find someone that knows about raw food out there!
I want to do my research now because I have been keeping raw about 75% - 80%…Continue
It has been a while since I was a regular here. A ton of things have changed in my life. For better and some for worse but I am still standing Looking at the few pictures I posted on my page reminded me of where I was and where I have come. Times were tough for a bit there but I pulled through. Food choices were dealt with the mood I was in. Sometimes bad sometimes great. Recently it has been towards the great. I have come a long way and learning to open up again and let people in. Also to…Continue
Yesterday I had a graduation party for my son. It was his party, not mine, so I served things that he and his friends eat. Let's just say it was not raw food. :) It included many things I used to binge on, including making non-raw desserts that required me to interact with them a LOT. But this is not a story about how I got tempted and ate my face off. I am here to say, I made it through the party and it was awesome and I STILL HAVE A FACE.
The real story here, and a…Continue
One week and 2 days has past on my cleanse. I only eat soup/juices/smoothies, that works best for me to avoid cravings I think so I will keep this up for a while before I start eating fruits and veggies as they are. The last 2 days were rough, I…Continue
Holla to my Habbies! Just checking in. I've been kind of busy! This happened:
That's my son Joe. I was so proud of him as they called his name time after time, acknowleging his grade point and his scholarships and awards that I forgot to be sad. The day was very much a rollercoaster of emotion, one…Continue
Hey everybody, I 'm still hanging in there with the juicing ad eating fruits. . Today I had Beet, lemon, apple and celery juice. I really needed a break from the all green juice, which I drank last month. I have lost 28 pounds so far, This is day # 40. I got lost a little last week. After day 30, I decided to add more veggies to my menu, so I added avocados, which i made some guacamole, by adding tomatoes and onions. I ate this and , the next day I was in so much…Continue

Today is my first day of vacation..... let me say that I have not had a day off for a LONG time- it has been a year when almost everyday I have had some kind of responsibility..... working at preschool, practicing or playing music, babysitting my 3 year old granddaughter, taking care of my 17 year old son....... so I am officially taking the summer off. Last night I actually made plans with a friend to go swimming and go to an art class. I kept asking myself...... Don't I have something…Continue
Greetings! Day one of my raw food journey. I intend on blogging noticeable changes in mind, body and soul. :-) For the last two days I have had a warm up to my raw food journey. I noticed a couple of interesting things. For breakfast, lunch and snacks I had raw food and smoothes. For dinner I wanted to use up things I had in my fridge before I started 100% today. I warmed up left over organic roast vegies that I had in the fridge which consisted of parsnips, onions, butternut pumpkin…Continue
