Progress report
Well, I'm still feeling great!!! Things are going well and I'm still walking without the cane. It's been 6 weeks since I turned to this plant-based lifestyle. I finally got to purchase a scale, I've lost 16 pounds and tons of inches. I brought a skirt just before I began this journey, and now I've taken it in a second time. I've lost a total of about 10 inches in my tummy area. This is great and I'm so happy. I now weight 241.4 and My goal was to be 239, so I'm not too far off my goal. My new…

Time to get real and "back on the wagon".
I just want to cry. I feel like I've hit rock bottom. I have been on the verge of tears all day. I need a good cry but haven't been able to really get enough time alone to let it all out. Today I saw on the scale a number I never wanted to see. A number I swore I would never allow myself to see. A weight I promised myself I would never reach. It's easy for people who aren't my size to say things like "how could she let herself get that big?" I have heard a lot of that lately. Not people…

Stepping away from gluttony
After almost a year in Italy, a month away of finishing my first year at the University of Gastronomic Sciences I have come to one conclusion: this is a school of gluttony.
This year we had 4 trips around Italy all focused on diverse products or regions where as obvious as it may seem we do for the food, to discover and experience many dishes and ways to produce certain raw materials.
However in these week long trips all we do from dawn till night is eat! we are offered…

Sometimes I get ideas during yoga class. I know, thoughts come, thoughts go, but this one thought, I decided to act upon it.
We have several do’s coming up; last year I made some zucchini-tomato rollups to take to these events. I sliced the zucchini with a potato peeler. That took awhile……….. :-)
After my class I entered a kitchen store and bought a mandoline. Of course, I had to try it out right away so I bought a couple of zucchini on the way home. Wow, what a…

Miracle Cures
A little disappointed and yet not surprised that the FDA approved another OTC miracle obesity cure today. As someone who was making the wrong choices not to long ago, I know that it will not work, but it is so frustrating that so many people push the responsibility of taking care of our bodies on other people. Especially when its the government who is allegedly looking after us. My favorite OTC medicine is the great smoothies and juices that you have all shared here. I still am amazed how…

RAW Food Class
Okay, so I know I have made mention of this several times over the recent. I was just so stinkin' excited about it! I just realized I never posted any of the photos of the event. So, here they are... (The last one is of my 2 yr. old angel, Raven Elise enjoying her green juice out of a mini-wine glass. LOVE!)…

The raw buzz
I've heard so many people talking about the raw buzz that you get. I totally get it now! I thought that since I'm an introverted person, that I couldn't possibly get to that level or be able to show it. But for the last week or so I've had a lot of green smoothies and mostly raw food and I feel amazing. Especially since I've been able to eat raw chocolate again, there's nothing quite like it.
I feel so amazing and as if nothing in my life (although its crazy and stressful at the…

It's been such a long time coming. TOOOOOO long. I keep SAYING I want to "get back to raw", but I keep caving in by mid-day. Now, I've been 100% raw OTHER TIMES in my life. I stressed, planned, etc. and drew "a line in the sand" and made it stick. Today, yes, I guess I drew the proverbial line....and succeeded. I kept it simple. I knew the day would start with green juice....YES! Then I had no plan. There were strawberries that were looking like they had seen better days and it was…

brief introduction!
Hi Everyone,
As you can probably see, my name is Alice and I think I'm about to join the raw food revolution! Here are my reasons why:
1. I've done enough research to be convinced that by converting to atleast 75% I can make significant differences to my phsyical and emotional health. According to my doctors I am overweight (although this is based on BMI, which I regard as B/S, I do actually agree with them). Alongside this I have significant health concerns which I want to…

Need to start Blogging!
I've never blogged really and I think its time. I need to be accountable, at least to me and this gives me something to look back on and to see my healing progress.
Starting today I'm going to focus on more green juices rather than the thick smoothies and yummy rich soups. One thing I have never gotten into is a variety of green and vegetable juices. I'm always hearing and reading about the great burst of energy and healing that happens to those that focus on this. I'm going to add a…
ContinueAlthough I have been drinking green smoothies and juices for years, and still do, I got clear yesterday, in my studies, how certain greens have high oxalic acid.
This affects our bone density as well as our teeth! I realized that this is the root of my teeth challenges since going raw.
Although I varied my greens, at…

Enlightening weekend
Hi everyone,
I'm new here but I feel at home already! My name is Carrie and I'm 29, I'm from Texas but I'm living in the UK with my husband. We've both been vegans for about 11 years.
I won't bore you too much, although I tend to be long winded with my stories. Basically I caught on to the raw food thing with Dhrumill and we like it raw about 4 years ago. Since then I've tried and failed with it,doing everything at once instead of slowly incorporating like you should. I'm an…
