If at first you don't succeed....try, try again. That's just what I am doing, trying again to eat
has agreed to try things I make, too. Tonight I put in the dehydrator some
cauliflower popcorn. It's quite yummy even before it's dehydrated! I hope there is enough left that gets dehydrated for the family to try. I'm having a hard time staying out of the dehydrator and sampling it. I also made some sunflower-cinnamon balls (the boys say they taste like

I am excited where I'm headed. And that's a plus for me. I really let myself get off track, and I have had a few really good shifts this week for what was really important to me. I have let go of draining friendships, one in particular that was stifling. And I feel like I can finally breathe. I'm putting my foot down and gaining my independence back. And today at the store I was able to stock up like a madwoman on the foods that matter to "me". Not my kids, not my husband, but me. And god it… Continue

I was up early to go to Mass, then left immediately for a Reiki share. I had some Odwalla apple juice (not raw) and a Lara bar or breakfast on the way to Mass. At the Reiki share, I had tea, a salad of romaine, tomatoes, onions, apples, pineapple, Mandarin orange slices, and homemade balsamic vinaigrette, a Mandarin orange, and a raw bar. Then off to feed Joker, then to the grocery...I don't even want to tell you what kind of state my house was in when I got home. I am NOT in a good… Continue

Well, I just want to say congratulations to me for setting this goal and staying the course. The outcome is tremendous. I am not talking weight loss here I am talking about an emotional shift. For what feels like a million years I have been trying to absorb what I believe to be the "thin" mentality. The ability to balance food intake with daily and extraordinary life events.
About day 19 of the 28 Day Total Reset Cleanse I started to inspect how I was feeling about my weight loss while… Continue

Maybe this was the reason I was able to jog three miles today? The last time I jogged a full three miles was at the Jingle Bell 5k in December 2007.

Spring is 21 days away and thoughts of clothing and shoes for warmer days come to mind. I discovered a wonderful new resource for shoes this AM via the CBS show Sunday morning. It's called Tom's shoes and is a line of reasonably priced casual shoes for men women and children. There are even vegan selections. What sold me on ordering up a pair is that for every pair you buy one pair is donated to a shoeless child in Africa. I really love supporting companies with a heart and in a small way makes… Continue

This is my first BLOG post, so bear with me. I guess I need to give everybody a little history about ME!
I started eating raw about 5 years ago. I got totally hooked at a David Wolfe Retreat, then got certified with
Alyssa Cohen. I was all raw for about 9 months. I felt great, lost a whole lot of weight, etc, etc. Then, I traveled and slowly but surely, started eating alot of cooked veggies and soups.
I am a Southern Girl and going home to Mississippi,… Continue

Today was a lazy sort of day, which has both its advantages (more time to get creative with new recipes) and disadvantages (tendency to boredom = mindless eating). After yesterday, I needed a break. I did clean the kitchen, feed Angeles, Felix, Herbie, and Joker (Middie and Mollie get fed at bedtime), pick up pizzas for the kids, and made some raw goodies for myself.
My knee is doing better on Naproxen--still a bit stiff and tender, but I can walk fairly normally. The weird… Continue

So I sorta fell off the wagon and I'm getting back on it :) But I went shopping yesterday after work to get some rawsome stuffs. I bought an acorn squash and got a young coconut a week ago. Well today while procrastinating (I'm a pro at this lol) I decided to be busy and peel this squash and hack into the coconut. Well the result was this super tasty, sweet, creamy...well not quite soup, not sure what to call it except good. I knew I wanted something creamy and tasty but without nuts and a lot… Continue

apologies for being absent all last week from this page. My boyfriend's dad passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, so we left home to be with his mum.
Paul's dad was at home for 1 night so that people could say their goodbyes. Then we took him to Taumarunui, Paul's mum's hometown, where he wanted to be buried. He wanted a Tangi
(a Maori funeral), so he stayed in the… Continue

I'm really, really happy with my progress in The Vault. Couldn't have done it without you guys and great raw foods!
I had the best salad dressing on a salad from Trader Joes: it was called "Coconut Chili" and had the following in it: coconut milk, red chilis, lemon, lime, lemongrass, white wine vinegar, and can't remember what else. I'm going to try to replicate it soon b/c I would eat ANYTHING if it had that on top (almost) !
These days I'm… Continue

...but it was such a busy day!!
Early AM was my visit with the orthopedic surgeon. He still wants to hold off on surgery, and wants to me take Naproxin and get PT instead. PT costs $90/week out-of-pocket, and he wants me to take it for THREE WEEKS!! Luckily I have a friend who is a physical therapist, so I'll see if I can get some "do at home" ideas from her. The Naproxin seems to be working well, and as long as I'm not in pain, I have no problem doing the exercises at… Continue

anyone out there with experience with gut issues after making the switch? have been raw with rare cooked food for 6 months. I just got out of the hospital after my first bout of acute diverticulitis which started to subside with clear liquid diet and antibiotics. Five days after my hospital admission I was preparing to go home when more and different pain arose in my belly, a third CAT scan revealed severe acute appendicitis and an emergency laparascopic appendectomy was performed 2 days late I… Continue
