Last Sunday we had a "The Summer is Really Over" BBQ for my meat eating friends. I made all the side dishes raw vegan. Thai Cucumber Salad, a giant green salad with mago dressing, a carrot/raisin/sunflower salad etc. I also made a Kale Salad topped with avocado. First I wasn't sure wheter I dare to serve a Kale Salad, but what the heck, I did it anyway! I thougth if no one eats it, I'll eat the whole thing myself. Tomorrow it's real. I'll start my Raw Ramadan. Which means that I'll fast from sun up to sun down, which is quite a long time this time of year. One month of no food, no drink during those hours. I'm planning to eat mainly raw food. Some ingredients that I use aren't raw, so I'll be probably 95% till 100% raw vegan:) I'll make a food plan for every day, and cross off what I'm eating. I run through a community for the elderly. This morning I ran into an old man walking his dog. He said to me "Oh! It's you!" He noticed my vibrams, and explained that he had seen my footprints the day before and thought there was an Alzheimers patient walking around barefoot. What a great way to start off the day, LOL!
The times are changing. Today I went to BJ's and scored a great book about raw foods for only 10 bucks. It has great pics on every page, plus the recipes are great.
