March 14, 2011 update:

I'm a full-time worker bee, half-time student. I've attempted the 100%-raw goal a few times and have failed each time. I finally joined RFR in the readying of participating in the upcoming 11-Week Initiative... but while sitting at my desk today at work I just started thinking, "Why be excited to start this in two weeks? Why not get a head start a week early?" Of course that thinking led to "Why not get started two weeks early and start this coming Friday?!"

I left work today with that plan; I’m starting on Friday.

After being home for a few hours tonight, then heading out to get some errands done and taking the dog for her first glorious walk in MONTHS (didn't think she'd ever walk again; but that's another story), I got home just in time to get a call from my boss about our co-worker who has been sick and out of the office since October. (She'd finally made it down to SLC where she was placed on the list for a liver transplant--at last.) My boss cried as he told me he’d gotten the call tonight that none of us wanted to get—ever. Martha didn’t make it.

I have no doubt that some of her health issues were diet-related and what a wake-up call. I’m moving up my start date from Friday to tomorrow, March 15, 2011.
How did you hear about Raw Food Rehab?
you tube
What percentage of your current diet would you estimate is raw foods? (this answer many change over time)
100!
How are you hoping this community can best support you in your journey? (moral support, transition advice, recipes, inspiration, fitness tips, etc)
The old me: MORAL SUPPORT! While I fluctuate from being 40-90% raw on any given day, I would LOVE to be 100%. I start out all gung-ho with fantastic goals and expectations and then fail. I'm hoping the support here will be just what I need to keep me motivated to stay on track. (no pressure, guys!) :0)

The new me (as of becoming 100% raw): Moral support... but more importantly, I just love reading (and feeling) all of the positivity out there from all of you!
RFR Oath: I acknowledge that everyone is at a different point along their health journey and I will respect the individual progress and needs of others as they make lifestyle choices and changes of their own. I promise to do my best to keep this community drama free. I understand that posting inappropriate material, personal attacks, unapproved solicitations or spamming of any kind can result in administrative action and/or removal from this community. I pledge to be respectful even if I do not agree with another member's opinion. Agreed?

morning lemon water and oil pulling

Posted on February 6, 2013 at 12:16am 7 Comments

sorry for no caps and limited punctuation...phone isnt cooperating.

as lemon water is what i usually have in the morning and oil pulling is typically done in the morning...and both have been touted as 'first thing'...which order should they be done in
any pros/cons either way or is it just preference

thanks

...did i mention this is really awkward with limited punctuation...

Used Vitamix ?

Posted on November 5, 2012 at 6:27pm 5 Comments

My cousin spied a used Vitamix for sale (an older 4000 model) and was told everything works.  Her only concern were a few small pinhead-sized dots of rust (?) towards the bottom of the canister.  Should she just keep saving up for a new one or is the rust (if it is rust?) not a horrible thing?

Thanks from a Team Blendtec Rehabber! :o)

We are not 'falling off the wagon' nor are we weak in willpower

I don't tend to cheer for or advertise for things, but I have to share the book I got recently from the library.  "Diet Rehab" by Dr. Mike Dow is VERY eye-opening.

Long story short, if we start a diet and don't stick to it as easily as we'd like to it's not due to lack of willpower--it's literally all brain chemistry.  He explains the downward spirals of food addiction--and they are addictions--because we end up needing more to…

The only things you can control are:

how you think and speak, what you do:  what you eat, what you drink, when you move your body, when you sleep, how you will respond to any situation.

Master these simple things positively and you will be amazed at the changes that will come into your life!  Let this be your year to SHINE!!
