About Me: (at least a couple of sentences; ex: family, interests, hobbies, favorite quote, personal mission statement, etc
I'm now 58 and have greatly enjoyed being part of RFR since July 2011 and have learned so much -mainly about me but that's where it all starts of course!
Yes, I still want to keep connected with the important basics of life that contribute to good health and personal fulfilment. This year, I decided my theme would be "choice" as we are all free to make many of our daily choices and to make the best ones we can.
That is also my challenge as freedom brings responsibility. Every day is a chance to learn and make good choices. I think it really is that simple!
(I didn't say easy)
I enjoy lots of different things and right now the most important thing for me is to get and stay physically active. I am inspired by you all every day.
Best wishes
Maureen

Our Wonder-ful Words changing our world.

Posted on December 28, 2012 at 9:20pm 9 Comments

As the year is about to renew on our Western calendar, changing the way we perceive and speak about our world may be one way we can make a difference for the better.

Is it possible that we can change the world just by changing the way we use words?

Can we create more harmony by using more gentle and harmonious words and using them consciously and more often?

Can we disempower words that disempower people by not using them and finding better, more constructive…

Loss and sadness - part of our shared journey

Posted on November 21, 2012 at 3:01am 11 Comments

So when sad and trying, probably heartbreaking times are upon us - we may feel so alone. People of faith may find solace and strength to carry on with this as a guide.

Others of us who have no particular beliefs to help us through will still share those feelings of loss and grief and seek to find the way forward. Each person's grief is unique yet the universal experience of it is the same.

Although it is natural to retreat to one's individual comfort zone at these times and it feels… Continue

People who SMILE........

Posted on September 15, 2012 at 4:12am 6 Comments

Just this afternoon as I walked onto the shopping centre rooftop car park, a young guy walked past  and gave me a fleeting, open, unexpected smile.

It cut through the grey concrete, metal and all, like a lasar and I felt it - it really warmed my heart. No thinking, just a feeling  -a really good feeling.

I am not a frequent smiler myself (well not on the outside) but it made me think how much good can be achieved with this very small action -anytime, anywhere.

So to all…

Springing into.....Spring? Autumn? ...into LIFE!

Posted on September 5, 2012 at 4:16am 3 Comments

At the beginning of Autumn in March (Downunder), I wrote a post about how noticing the change of  seasons and the way nature changes is a great opportunity to have a change of mindset. I felt a little lost at the time about a number of things including staying on track with raw.

Well, six months later I cannot say I have found the magic formula so that I no longer go "off track" nor that I have achieved any particular goals. However I am still here at RFR, learning and sharing and…

Raw in Italy is doable, we have farmers market 4 days a week and I found an organic co-op where there are some supplements, although very expensive.

I try to be as raw as possible but I have to say I'm no where near being 100% everyday, I do have all raw days from time to time, best when I prepare everything at home. But being this a school of food and culture 90% of my friends are cooks and it becomes tricky with 3-4 dinner parties a week but most of us think about our food a lot and buy as local as possible, organic, fair trade, etc... trying to keep it on the sustainable side. :)

Hello Maureen. Sorry I did not get back before Christmas. My Raw Food Diet has pretty much gone out the window. Namely because I cannot sustain it. Though according to my naturopath I have to incorporate this a lot to reduce inflammation in my body. I hope youre well and Melbourne is treating you good :)

Hi Maureen :-) yes always something going on with children, well worth it though !  Yes it saddens me that people of my father's generation rely on pills for their health issues when nutrition and what goes into your mouth or on your skin is what is causing the health issues in the first place. Hard to talk to some of the boomers though, they don't like to be told by someone younger than them that they are doing it wrong ;-) I'm pretty sure the yurtworks are still there. I haven't visited it before though, originally from Sydney but I drive past a yurt occasionally. They are cool !  Thank You, glad you like my pumpkins, I was impressed with how many I had. Even found a few more after the photos were taken that were hiding in the grass. How long have you been raw ? All the best to you too xx

Hey Maureen! Yes I'm familiar with 811 and that's what I follow.

I wouldn't say it's radical, I would just say that specific amount equates to 3K calories. There really are great people that are into this lifestyle!

Noah is awesome. Love his videos.

The amount of learning you can do is what's most fun about this. Everyone goes through phases and I find that I'm no different. I enjoy what I do and wouldn't do it if I didn't :)

Hope you continue to shine!
