In 1900, 1 in 100 people got cancer. By the 1960's, it was up to 1 in 20. Today, the numbers shock my pants off: 1 in THREE women in the US will get cancer, and 1 in TWO men will.
Regarding heart and vascular disease, the numbers are equally grim: 1 out of TWO men and women will die of heart and vascular disease.
Besides just stealing your health, cancer and heart disease also steal your money. Even with insurance, long term care and surgeries bankrupt…

There is a really cool free event coming up that I wanted to share with my Raw Food Rehab brothers and sisters!
John Robbins (who walked away from inheriting millions from the Baskin-Robbins ice cream fortune because he didn't want to hurt people or animals) is hosting a forum with a ton of awesome speakers! I have a special place in my heart for John Robbins because it was after reading his book "Diet For A New America" in college that I became a vegetarian.
The Summit starts…

What kind of a diet do you say you eat? Most of say we are "Raw Fooders" or "Raw Foodies" or "High Raw" or "Low-Fat-Raw-Vegan" "LFRV" or even simply "8-1-1." I have no problem with any of these. And yet I don't LOVE the word "raw."
Why? When I think of "raw", I think of something not quite ready. Like raw minerals, just big hunks of rock. Or worse, raw meat, red and bleeding and teeming with bacteria that has to be cooked to be safe. Even "Raw" like the movie with Eddi…

My up in coming surgery is going to be very complicate. I don't usually talk about it because of how scared I am. But your son's journey has given me some faith in the healing powers of surgery. I have to lose 20 to 30 more pounds before I can be ready for surgery first off. That is why I do not yet have a date. The surgery it self is a three day procedure in which the first day they harvest one of my ribs from my left side. The second day they remove four of my lumbar vertebrate and form the rib into the correct vertebrate shapes. On the third day they pin or screw every other vertebrate to the next as to correct the thorasic curve and stop the progression of all of the curves. The surgeon is unsure if I will be in the hospital for a week or six months. He said on the best case scenario I could be up and walking and on my way home with in three days. I feel that is just a tad unrealistic. But I am trying to be positive about the whole thing. This surgeon has an 80% success with no paralysis and the other 10% had loss of sensation or movement in one limb at worse. He developed this special surgery in the 80 and has perfected it.
I have finally gotten my family into a position where they can handle life without me for a bit and I am finally really trying to get the weight off so that this can happen. It is still a little nerve racking because I am a semi educated person and I know how many muscles they will be cutting threw to get to my spine to begin with. I know that my muscles are stretched and shortened do to the erratic shape of my spine. What I did not know is how powerful the bodies ability to heal is. Hearing of others going threw it and doing it raw is exciting and well inspiring. I am hoping to be ready mind body and spirit by august of this year. I have finally found a way to control my weight and I think within the next three or so months I could be down to my surgery weight. I would love to hear more about your sons and your experience.
Thank you for getting in touch with me,
Becky
Love to be your friend Heather thanks for the invite : )
