About Me: (at least a couple of sentences; ex: family, interests, hobbies, favorite quote, personal mission statement, etc
My life is good. It has been getting even better since my commitment to purchase fewer vitamin concoctions and eat more raw greens and fruits. I became a widow at thirty-eight and decided to stay single. Being a young mother, then grandmother and now great-grandmother reminds me to stay connected to family. I don’t think I’ve ever had a hobby but have always enjoyed trying new things so my personal interests have grown. In my youth I saw a quote basically reading, “Knowledge is Power”. Gathering knowledge is part of my lifestyle.

How are you hoping this community can best support you in your journey? (moral support, transition advice, recipes, inspiration, fitness tips, etc)
It is exciting to find this community of like minded people and the support that can grow from such an interaction. At the present time, I have no contact with others that want to change their eating style to high raw veggies and fruits. The transition alone has been stressful so I welcome advice and inspiration from you all. Many thanks to you for your time and help.

Mothers Not Titled & Acknowledged by This World

Posted on May 12, 2012 at 4:40am 5 Comments

Last year I placed this tribute to Mothers in The Common Area. This year I’ve decided to turn it into a blog since I continue to meet Mothers of Heart.  "Happy Mothers Day to All Women That Nurture"

On this Mother’s Day, please join me in acknowledging the Mothers that may be overlooked in this celebration. We have Mothers among us that have given birth to stillborn children or were not able to carry their child or children to full term resulting in death. We…

"Invited Nature to My Workout & Walking Into the Wind"

Posted on October 15, 2011 at 2:22pm 3 Comments

I went for a mid-morning walk today just as I’ve been doing for several weeks. It had been a windy rainy night so my favorite tree lined walking path looked like a newly developed obstacle course. As I walked along, I began moving the fallen branches so as to clear the path for the next walker or young biker pedaling through. Knowing our local Michigan day was filed with 25 mph winds it was a little challenging and it started feeling like a resented chore. However, the Grandma in me kept…

Waste Not-Want Not

Posted on September 14, 2010 at 11:19pm 10 Comments

I am grateful I grew up with a large extended family and parents that survived the Great Depression but some times I take “Waste Not-Want Not” to the extreme. I worked hard to get over cleaning my plate because of the starving children across the seas. That made no sense to me anyway. I knew that food left on my plate would turn to garbage before it got across the seas. That…

Hi Mae - even after the carrot cake, I still had some pulp left: some went into a cooked vegetable soup, and some went into the processor with some cooked chickpeas to make a pate (with some wild garlic and dandelion from the garden) :D
