About Me: (at least a couple of sentences; ex: family, interests, hobbies, favorite quote, personal mission statement, etc
Mother of twin boys.
Learning about raw food and health has been enlightening for me.
It's addictive!
How did you hear about our community?
Accidentally from another mom. Called to buy something from an online ad and got to chatting. This site was highly recomended.
What dietary interests do you have? (clean eating, vegetarian, vegan, paleo, weight loss, etc?)
50% (more now that I'm on here)
What is your motivation for joining Real Food Rehab? (moral support, education, recipes, inspiration, fitness tips, etc.)
I'm hoping I can glean some information and learning experiences from other people to help me transition more smoothly to a more raw lifestyle. How other people have dealt with spouses and partners who are "meat and potatoes" diet oriented.
I love to cook and want to get my kitchen set up for raw food preparation. Any ideas or $$ savers would be helpful.
Also any recipies that I can get my kids to eat would be VERY helpful!
RFR Oath: I acknowledge that everyone is at a different point along their health & wellness journey and I will respect the individual progress and needs of others as they make lifestyle choices and changes of their own. I promise to do my best to keep this community drama free, and solicitation free. I understand that posting inappropriate material, personal attacks, personal or business solicitations or spamming of any kind can result in administrative action and/or removal from this community. I pledge to be respectful even if I do not agree with another member's opinion. Agreed?

Angels everywhere

Last week was crazy. Both my twin boys got sick. First wast croup and athsma. A trip to the E.R. and a bunch of steroids cured that right up. Then it hit twin number two. First the cough and a visit to the regular doctor. Then the fever hit and it was back to the E.R. because the doctor wouldn't give the same steriod prescription. Well they gave it to him at the E.R. but it wasn't going to help. The next day back to the doctor then pediatrician. There was swelling around Thomas' neck that…

It all comes down to Zzzz's

You know when you feel like there are too many challenges to face? It's surprising what you learn when you get through them and look back. The last week was a challenge for me to stay high raw. One of my sons had croup and asthma and coughed for three days straight. Sleep deprivation does not lead to a happy mom or child. I'm happy to say I'm greatful for my juicer and blender for easy 'meals' and something my kids will consume when I'm at a loss. It's finally getting better at night and I'm…

Too much of a good thing.

I made my first batch of cashew kreme today and fell in love. I had it on sliced bananas and on celery sticks with my kids.

I realized I probably consumed more than I should have when I checked the caloric content. Oopsy!

It occured to me that there are a lot of really decadent dessert recipies for raw food eating as well as other high fat options.

Does anyone know if it's possible to gain weight eating too much of this stuff? (not that I'm out to try it)

I would…

Groceries a la husband

Posted on September 28, 2010 at 1:34am 7 Comments

After a long week of sick children and night courses the fridge was more than a little bare. Needless to say I hadn't made a grocery list and sent my huband out with the kids to shop. Yay for me! Thank heavens for small miracles.

Well, My husband and kids arrived home with bags of groceries to unload and put away. Bag Number one...pumkin pie and two containers of ice cream. My husband excitedly exclaims "they were two for one!"

I bit my tongue and kept unloading. Next was four…

Gina, thanks so much for coming by and sharing the story. I had a somethingteen month old that put this HUGe wad of gum up his nostril. He talked like he had a stuffy nose for DAYS before i figured it out. *poor baby.~ Had one stick a penny up his nose(the oldest...i have no idea how, or why...i didnt ask) THAT was yucky. Had a girl of ours have a bug fly up her nose at a picnic..Talk about flailing, screaming, kicking scratching and panic...- *oy~ I calmed down later. *heh~
