About Me: (at least a couple of sentences; ex: family, interests, hobbies, favorite quote, personal mission statement, etc
Many things have changed since I first came to the RF Hab. I moved from NY to CT and lucky for me I lived down the block from Catch a Healthy Habit in Fairfield for 5 months. Unfortunately I needed to move north and lived behind Whole Foods for 18 more months. Then finally I have settled where I am now in a country town that is peaceful and serene. I work as a wellness coach for a major insurance company and am an LCSW, licensed psychotherapist

PROGRESS (AND PROCESS) NOT PERFECTION

Posted on August 27, 2010 at 7:00pm 6 Comments

It's all about commitment and not perfection. That is what I've learned on my raw food journey. The tests are always going to be there and just when I feel secure about my eating habits, the tests get that much harder and I find myself in new situations that are even more challenging than the last set of tests. So I always forgive myself if I didn't make the best food choices in a challenging place but most of the time I make great food choices! It's easier at home when I have… Continue

For those who aren't kitchen people

Posted on June 26, 2010 at 10:30am 6 Comments

I have not been a kitchen person for a long time. When my kids were little I loved to make things from scratch when I wasn't working. Once I got back into the full time work world....forget it. I was a single mother and my kids never liked the same things, they never liked the wonderful foods I would cook and I eventually gave up and gave in to their bad habits.

Now they are grown and a new chapter of my life has begun. It's just me now! Today I had to be creative in the…

By George She's Got It

Some are too young to remember the saying in My Fair Lady, but for those who remember, I think I've got it.

My smoothies were yucky until today. I read a few discussions, recipes etc. and there are little tricks to making a green smoothy that you love. First I added small amounts of kale, romaine, beet greens, italian parsley and green chard to a blender with filtered water. I started with "chop" and moved up to "puree" and finally "liquify". Then I added very small pieces…

CREATIVE MIND

Posted on June 16, 2010 at 10:44pm 4 Comments

A few months before I became involved here, I had done 2 juice detoxes through a local raw restaurant. They were 1 week a piece, 1 month apart. Both times I noticed that by the 3rd day or so, I started having all these great ideas and was able to day dream again and see light around the issues in my life that seemed so dark at the time. Then after the first juice feast was over, I slowly drifted back to my old way of thinking. Then, juice feast #2, it all started to happen again and I realized… Continue

The only things you can control are:

how you think and speak, what you do:  what you eat, what you drink, when you move your body, when you sleep, how you will respond to any situation.

Master these simple things positively and you will be amazed at the changes that will come into your life!  Let this be your year to SHINE!!
