About Me: (at least a couple of sentences; ex: family, interests, hobbies, favorite quote, personal mission statement, etc
Mama to two toddlers. I love to walk, bike, hike, want to learn to swim (well). I'm always looking to improve my families health through food. We all recently discovered we are all allergic to gluten. So it seems like we are being pushed into eating raw =) which is great by me!
How did you hear about our community?
Searching Raw on the web or Facebook
What dietary interests do you have? (clean eating, vegetarian, vegan, paleo, weight loss, etc?)
What is your motivation for joining Real Food Rehab? (moral support, education, recipes, inspiration, fitness tips, etc.)
I'm hoping to learn more recipes and easy things to do daily. I cook very simply - not 10 ingredients I use rarely. I also have 2 toddlers so have to pack their lunches everyday. I also eat 'on the run' a lot so try to pack my lunch the night before as well. AND my husband's lunch. Sadly this doesn't happen as much as I'd like. Its my goal though.
I'd love to learn about shopping (CSA vs. farmers market, where's the cheapest pre made things - whole foods, Menu planning for the week, on the go snacks, travel snacks, fitness tips, inspirational stories of people moving to more raw.

Why do I stay stuck? (Emotional eating)

Posted on July 31, 2010 at 8:37am 11 Comments

Hi all,

I'm hoping you lovely people can help me shed some light... on myself.

My name is Cari and I eat ice cream emotionally. I've been doing it for years. It was never an issue, just something I was aware of. Then in 2001 I gained 20 in a year from ice cream, it was a hard year. Now, I've been eating lots of ice cream for about a month now.

I grew up in a stressful family (only child, single mother that would vent her anger onto me which was scary cuz I never… Continue

Luv me some RAW but mistakes are expensive! What to do with blended pine nuts, coconut, agave????

Posted on July 26, 2010 at 9:03pm 9 Comments

OY!!! I do tend to find things I like and eat them over and over. I own that. But I'm also gunshy (not my favorite saying) because mistakes are expensive!!!!!

I found a recipe for raw ice cream that didn't require an ice cream maker. The recipe was

4 cups pine nuts

2 cups agave

2 cups coconut water

2 cups coconut meat

(This is from memory, don't quote me - I can get the book and get it for sure if anyone's interested).

That's the base then… Continue

Need some focus... anyone want to do a cleanse or juice/smoothie feast with me??

Posted on July 13, 2010 at 3:19pm 2 Comments

Hi all,

I learned a lot during my last initiative. One thing I learned is I need focus otherwise my life pulls me away from the way I want to eat. I know that sounds 'odd' but with two toddlers, going out with friends, parties, living with a man who is not high raw.... I need focus!

Last initiatve I did Penni's 3 day mini cleanse (loved it! Loved the focus and how I felt!) and a juice feast and loved it. I could do either one of those, Penni's 28 day cleanse, a smoothie… Continue

Can too much coconut oil make you nauseous/vomit?

Posted on July 11, 2010 at 12:38am 6 Comments

Hi all,

I felt super sick/nauseous tonight for a few hours, to the point of wishing I would vomit. Now my 5 yr just vomited twice (poor little lamb).

The only thing I can think that we both ate today was popcorn cooked in coconut oil, coconut oil drizzled on and salt. We've had that before with no side effects.... I can't imagine it being that but as I said its the only thing we both ate....

Has anyone out there ever…
