Profile Information

About Me: (at least a couple of sentences; ex: family, interests, hobbies, favorite quote, personal mission statement, etc
I am a retired teacher living in Thailand. A doctor advised me to go on a healthy diet, and after 6 years that has brought me to include raw foods as a significant part.

About 6 weeks ago 2 things changed in my diet, both radical. I watched "Food Matters" (http://zandtao.com/bzblog/foodmatters.htm), and decided that I should try raw foods. When I first started my diet I found raw foods a bit "strong", but this time I enjoyed themmore. As a result I am eating less.

At the same time I learned about water - my Thai massage Grannie told me to drink 2 litres of water a day to help with the chi. I started doing this as well and felt good, but then came down with a "flu". Reading Paul Pitchford I decided this was a cold and damp" condition, and was fortunate enough to find access to Chinese herbs and have been on these for nearly three weeks. I feel that I have always had this cold and damp condition ever since I was brought up in the miserable UK weather, but living in Thailand I hadn't noticed it until I became acclimatised and then started this water - and maybe the raw food. I have increased the use of chillies and other spices, and am slowly "warming up".

A typical meal would be brown rice, brown rice pasta or polenta - not raw, with a salad (usually pressed), vegan somtam and marinaded veg. I also have made a chilli con carne and I have made kimchee for a long time.

Breakfast has been carrot and black sesame slush (not juice), and I usually have a green drink with my meals. I eat out a couple of times a week, that is not raw food but heated vegan except for fish or oysters.

I look forward to advice from this group.

Hope you are keeping well,

All the Best,

Bill Z

Raw Food Update

At the beginning of July I watched the movie Food Matters, and decided that starting raw was a good idea. I wasn't committed to a 100% raw but I did decide on an increased proportion.

Where I live I don't have good access to organic veg, I can buy most of what I want but often I have to accept what is available and cook with that. Yesterday I saw some very nice winged beans but did not buy them because I don't eat them so much on my changed diet. That was a bad decision and I further…
