Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!
I have been raw (about 90%) for the past 7½ months and now have developed some acne issues that I never had before. It seems strange to me that this would still be a detox issue. Has anyone had this issue past their first six months of being raw? Or does anyone think it could be the nuts? I hope not - I love them and they are not hindering my weight loss as I have lost about 22 pounds.
Any experiences or advice on what I can do will be much appreciated.

It can actually take years to completely detoxify depending on how old you are and how much your body needs to expel. The longer you are raw/pure the deeper the detox can go. If you've been eating less seeds/nuts lately b/c of the beautiful summer produce- that can have a more detoxifying effect.

It just depends on your age and how many toxins you've consumed over the years. But it can also indicate a hormone imbalance. You may want to check it out with a blood test through your doctor's office.

I'm curious - what made you go fruititarian after a year being raw? If you don't mind my asking . . .
sorry - this does not have to do with acne. :)

Permalink Reply by Wendy Geesey on July 11, 2012 at 2:53pm I am a researcher by nature- just love to study things of interest. After a 42 day juicefeast I really had a hard time getting my bearings back... but did manage after about t a month or so.... back onto the "eating anything raw you want" diet for a while I was finding out that a lot of the foods I thought were raw really weren't- agave nectar, cashews, macadamia nuts (which are $20/pound, thank you very much!!!) almonds from CA, liquid aminos, cacao!, some tahini... I was dehydrating a lot too making all kinds of "raw" gourmet stuff. I hardly ever ate fruit and maybe a large salad... maybe every day, but I took stock of what I was consuming and thought... what? where's the LIVING food? where's the produce? 811 kept coming up... 30bananasaday.com, 80-10-10... All the fruitarians highly recommend Dr. Graham's book- so I bought it. After I was on the diet 2 weeks I took my fasting blood sugar- pre-diabetic!! (thanks to my high fat raw diet!!!)... in 6 weeks I brought it back down to normal!! woohoo!! :) So many things raw fooders don't teach- like how bad salt is for you... even Himalayan or Celtic Sea salt!! Fermented foods are controversial, but 811ers believe they are harmful (vinegar comes from 19% acetic acid- not good for the liver, vinegar is watered down to 3%, and vinegar is said to prevent digestion of food!). And on an on it goes! So I'm pushing it higher. I'm not perfect on 811- it's very very challenging for me!! But I know I'm on the road to better health going this way :) Thanks for asking! Don't mind a bit :)
