Real Food Rehab

No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!

Hello friends, It's been quite a while since I've checked in with the 'Hab. I have been high-raw for over 4 years and up until recently have enjoyed all of the benefits of abundant energy, good health, clear mind and more.  In the past month or so I have felt sort of 'flu-ish' but not having the flu - and I seem to simply be profoundly fatigued. I sleep fully through the night, but wake up feeling like I could use another 8 hours  - my face looks puffy and my brain is foggy.  The one health 'complaint' I've had is a broken tooth - which I have postponed taking care of. I imagine that it is possible that the tooth issue has become more global and is the culprit. I plan to get into a clinic for extraction next week. Meanwhile I am receiving acupuncture to see if that can assist my system to regain energy and re-boot.

I'm posting here to see if anyone may have experienced similar while on high-raw. I have been a vegetarian for 25 years - so i am not open to suggestions that are other than plant based.

I've been drinking tonics with turmeric and medicinal mushrooms, also sea veggies.

Any thoughts you may have on this, I'd love to hear from you.

Feeling discouraged about this - and a tiny bit worried.

blessings,

Janet

its nice to see a post in here

Janet - have you have your Vit D levels checked? Mine was critically low last year and I was extremely fatigued.

Have you checked in with your general practitioner? Sounds like a full blood analysis might be helpful. It is a great diagnostic tool. I have had "bone-weary" fatigue in the past with an anemic condition. Also Low Vitamin D has also caused it. I have to supplement with 2,000 mg a day. (I live in Ohio.) And low B-12. Could you have a depression? Look at work, personal relationships, emotions... What about any estrogen use? Get thee to a doctor...you need to find out what's going on. Tell yourself it's OK to be worried. Often it is our wake up call . Listen to yourself, don't ignore it. Make a plan. Let us know how you are doing please.

Thank you darlings. I so appreciate you taking the time to reply and share your wisdom. Vitamin D levels that is surely a possibility and/or B-12.  I don't have a general practitioner - no health insurance and I'm caught in a snag with application for subsidized health care - our county is so back-logged.  Joni - It does not feel like depression - and I work with many tools for emotional and spiritual healing - that is my field actually.  And, yes, the listening to myself and realizing that this is something quite different than any thing i've experienced (apart from post pregnancy-C-section and sleep deprivation some 28 years ago when my son was born)

Penni, how did you have Vit. D levels evaluated?   and full blood analysis - you mean a comprehensive blood work-up as in lab draws and such? I'm not opposed to that, I simply do not have access to care in the allopathic realm.  I think that there is something called 'life blood analysis' that is done my naturopathic docs (not sure) perhaps that's an avenue to pursue.  I am on the case now, will be looking into my options.  I send you love & blessings.

You can just have a Vit D blood test done.  You can even do it yourself and mail it in - I just googled it and found this:  http://www.homehealthtesting.com/vitamin-d-test.html

I would check it out - I continue to take 5,000 iu's of Vit D 3 - I use Garden of Life's Raw Code Vitamin - it has my levels up in the normal range now.

Janet, I just want to encourage you to further pursue affordable health care. My monthly premium dropped from $1178 per month (yes, per month! With a major insurer) to $274 a month with the subsidy I was qualified to receive. I am over 65 and retired although I receive a small income from substitute teaching. It made ALL the difference in my life. I cried on the phone, actually, no, I bawled like a baby. I applied Dec 23rd, 2012 -- the very last day of the extension on Open Enrollment period. I think it was God on the other end of the phone:) because this very nice lady pushed my enrollment through and it started on January 1, 2013. I could not have had a better Christmas gift or received a greater blessing when it was needed. I broke out into tears every time I told the story. It is worth it! I met many nice people on the phone during that period as I was getting all the details worked out.

Just one more quick comment: I need health insurance because I have a genetic heart condition. BUT, I was also DX with bone marrow cancer in 2010 and as of my last visit to my hematologist, September, 2014, the cancer markers (i.e., Chromosome abnormalities), have disappeared. The doctors are completely perplexed. The answer was: 'It is gone. We don't know why.' I started eating raw in January, 2012. I don't know why
either, but, IT IS GONE! My blood counts are also in the normal range, when in 2011 I was recommended to begin transfusions and other treatment. My refusal was because I believe we can heal! I refused on the basis that if I began treatment, I would not be giving my body the opportunity to heal itself. Let food be thy medicine. My personal belief is that RAW changes our bodies at the cellular level.

I apologize profusely for this very long post and sincerely hope I have not violated any of the rules here. I am new at this and very excited about a new lease on life. Just wanted to share a bit of the story.

Janet, as you unravel the mystery of your fatigue and other symptoms, please know you are not alone. Blessings, ~joni
P.S. To my earlier post. I was 64 when I applied to the affordable healthcare plan. But the acceptance of my application and the subsidy saved me thousands in health care premiums until I reached 65 and began receiving Medicare. ~joni

thank you Joni ~ I greatly appreciate you sharing your experiences and encouragement to pursue 'affordable' care. I put quotes marks around affordable because for me even the $267 premium would be out of reach. Yet, I imagine that there is a way and I will continue to pursue assistance. I certainly do believe in self-healing, and the power of vital living foods, a positive attitude, community, and spiritual centering as my primary care. And when i'm feeling so radically different than the way I normally feel (e.g. I am normally frisky, full of energy and very healthy) then it's time to check into what may be going on.

Thank you Penni - I will check out the link you sent. You are an angel.

update for my 'peeps'...

I have taken action! I phoned the county clinic today, explained to them that my Medi-Cal (subsidized care) application has been pending since March and I have a medical necessity NOW. They booked an appointment for me on Monday to see a primary care Doc for a preliminary evaluation, and most likely, blood test. This will be followed by another appointment for a full physical. This is on a sliding scale basis, I am confident that I'll qualify not to have to pay full rate, and that I'll get some information to shed light on what's going on.

I also went to Whole Foods and purchased a wonderful Vitamin D spray, and B-12 sublingual dots.

Just seems right to do that

thank you for your wisdom, support, and the 'nudge' to get thee/me to a doctor!!

Blessings, Janet

This is great news!  Please do keep us up to date on how all this goes and what you find out!! Sending you lots of healing energy & prayers AND that anything that is hidden from your knowledge that needs to be uncovered will be revealed!
