Raw Food Rehab

Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

Does anyone here have Lupus?  Recently I was diagnosed with it, it is also what they think is the leading factor in my kidney disease.  One of the foods my doc told me to avoid is Alfalfa.  Was wondering if anyone else was told the same thing.  Since I have cut it out of my diet (only like 3 weeks) I have noticed that my butterfly rash on my face has diminished.

Is also wondering if anyone else out there with Lupus has experienced similar results and/or has trigger foods that they now have to avoid.  I am at the beginning of my research of Lupus so I don't really know food wise what is good and what to avoid besides Alfalfa.

Thank you for any input you can provide.

Hi Crystal!  Check this article out on one of our awesome members here at RFR - Mary M.  I think you could contact her as a person for great support!  http://rawfoodrehab.ning.com/group/wellnessoffice/forum/topics/heal...

Thanks Penni, I will!

I am also trying to manage my Lupus with diet and went off wheat & gluten for weeks and started feeling pretty good.  One night at dinner I broke down and had a dinner roll.  Within one hour I had pain misfires all over my body.  It was fast and extreme enough to convince me to be much stricter with the wheat elimination.   I have been tested and do not have Celiac.  This might be something you could try.  Good luck

I will definitely look into it, thank you!  For the past two weekends I have had a hard time staying raw.  I had two major pool tournaments to compete in with no time to prepare food for myself much less the capability to make ice runs for a cooler.  I tried it the first weekend and failed miserably with the little time I had to eat and the establishment we were playing at did not look kindly to people brining food in.  I was eating apples and oranges all weekend in my car. The only food they offered were deep fried mushrooms.  I love mushrooms but not cooked and espeically not drowned in oil.  I am definitely noticing that the more Raw I eat, the better I feel for sure!  This past Saturday we had a two hour break in between matches so I was able to go eat a salad at local restaurant.  I really wish restaurants would offer more options for Vegetarians, Vegans and Raw Foodist than just salad.  Though it was a good one, I can make a salad at home. LOL

I am going to look/try out not eating wheat and gluten to see if it helps me.  Thanks again Gina!
