Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!
Has anyone suddenly started getting canker sores since going raw? I know that this can be a sign of B12 deficiency, but I supplement. I am wondering about others' experiences and what they did to combat this? Also, how do you stay away from acidic foods while you have a canker sore if you are raw. Would welcome anyone's experiences and suggestions.
This canker sore hurts!
Permalink Reply by Katy on August 15, 2012 at 3:49pm It's the acidity that causes it. As your body is transitioning all the toxins are moving around. Probably stuck in your stomach area. Try exercising as this should help to move things around and out. Are you bowel cleansing? This will also help
Stress or certain foods -- including citrus or acidic fruits and veggies (such as lemons, oranges, pineapples, apples, figs, tomatoes, and strawberries) -- can trigger a canker sore or make the problem worse.
Some cases of complex canker sores are caused by an underlying health condition, such as an impaired immune system; nutritional problems, such as vitamin B-12, zinc, folic acid, or iron deficiency; and gastrointestinal tract disease, such as Celiac disease and Crohn's disease.
Goldenseal as a tea is works good. Just swish around in your mouth or gargle if the sores are in your throat. Good luck and keep up the good raw work...

Permalink Reply by Aen Brauer on November 4, 2012 at 2:57am Hi Jason, Do you know much about herbs? I was studying herbs, that is until recently when I took this major detour with my diet . . . switching to RAW (which has been occupying much of my spare time). This past summer tho when I was learning about herbs, I made green smoothies with cleavers in them . . . my four year old neighbor really liked the smoothies . . . next thing I knew. . . fresh picked cleavers started showing up at my front door :)
