Real Food Rehab

No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!

• Dry skin brushing helps to shed dead skin cells, which can help improve skin texture and cell renewal.

• Dry skin brushing increases circulation, encouraging your body’s discharge of metabolic wastes, which greatly aids the lymphatic drainage of the entire body.

• Dry skin brushing helps to tighten the skin because it increases the flow of blood. Increasing the circulation to the skin can also help lessen the appearance of cellulite.

• Dry skin brushing stimulates the lymph canals to drain toxic mucoid matter into the colon, thereby purifying the entire system. This enables the lymph to perform its house-cleaning duties by keeping the blood and other vital tissues detoxified. After several days of dry brushing, you may notice the mucous material in your stools.

• Dry skin brushing helps with muscle tone and more even distribution of fat deposits.

• Dry skin brushing rejuvenates the nervous system by stimulating nerve endings in the skin.

• Dry skin brushing helps your skin to absorb nutrients by eliminating clogged pores.

Healthy, breathing skin contributes to overall body health. Individuals who sit at a computer screen all day long will particularly take pleasure in the benefits of skin brushing. People who have inactive lifestyles or jobs usually experience stiff and sore necks and shoulders that reach even into their arms and down their spines and into their lower backs. Increased blood flow begins entering the areas brushed and you will experience an increase in electromagnetic energy that permits you to feel energized and invigorated.

Does it have to be a certain kind of brush? Do you brush up or down? This is amazing what dry skin brushing can do for you!
Brush towards the heart - upwards from your feet, and from your hands. Be gentle on your abdomen. I've been dry-brushing since May, and I love the effect it's had on my skin. I brush before I get in the shower. It's a great way to get the blood flowing, and feels great!
I started in June and it makes me feel good. When I don't do it for a few days, I can tell and crave it, just as I've gotten to crave my juice and miss it when I don't have it.
does anyone have a brush or company they recommend?
I just bought one at Whole Foods. I need to get a facial brush though.

Kristina, I use a Yerba Prima skin brush and I absolutely love it! You can find them on Amazon, and they aren't that expensive. Plus you'll be helping the RFR site out by ordering through Amazon! I normally do it right before I shower so I can wash away the dead skin. It really is invigorating and energizing!

I do! I do! *raises hand*

I used to have horrible lymphedema. Like, my legs resembled tree trunks. Ankles? Hadn't seen those in years! And, at 300 pounds, you can betcha I had the ol' cottage cheese thighs going on.

I began daily body brushing at the same time I ventured into Raw Food Land. Amazing how quickly things began to move and change! Reeeeeeally gets the lymph moving!

Today, I have smooth and toned skin (and ankles!). And while a daily dose of green juice, lots of fresh fruit & veggies, colon hydrotherapy and exercise have certainly contributed to the transformation, I really credit the daily skin brushing with speeding up the process.

Get a brush, ladies (and gents!). At less than $10.00, it's the cheapest spa treatment you'll ever find!

Here's a great article on Brushing the Bod.
Have been since last winter--love the results.
I bought a brush today at Whole Foods for under $6. I only did a few swipes because its late and I read that it can be stimulating. I was amazed how good it felt on the first try! I'm looking forward to starting my day out with it tomorrow. :)

I also read it can help with the cellulite. Bring it! :)
I always forget which way to brush--away or to the heart? then the naturopath last night said around your lymph nodes.
