Real Food Rehab

No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!

Hello there,

Although raw food nutrition has been an interest of mine for a very long time, I've recently been really reading more into it as an actual diet I would consider trying. Just as with any "diet" or self-implemented healthcare program, I see there can be a lot of misguided and inaccurate information regarding raw food diets. Of course I understand the need to follow a diet that is individual to each of our needs and there is no such thing as a "perfect diet", I do expect ONE consistent thing from eating raw foods being that the food is actually raw. I realize the only way to ensure this is to eat actual raw fruit and vegetables, but what about the superfood powders and supplements? I absolutely love cacao and have been getting into my own chocolate making, but it has been so upsetting to learn that some of the companies I have been buying my "raw" cacao from are actually lying about their foods being raw. Now I don't believe everything that I read on the internet, but I also read about one particular superfood company being run by Monsanto. This company is also certified organic and non-GMO, so this is all just so confusing and overwhelming! I don't know who to trust as far as who I buy my few superfood products from. This is a bit of a rant. I truly appreciate any information/advice anyone has to offer.

Thanks!

Boy, I am sure curious as to who the company is that is run by Monsanto. Kind of an oxymoron if I do say so myself.....

It is all just so confusing and overwhelming to me too. Personally I would never knowingly buy anything from Monsanto.

This was one of the websites I came across while reading about different superfood companies. It's totally an oxymoron! It's reaffirming to me that local organic farms and community gardens are the safest route to ensure your foods remain as pure as possible. Although admittedly, I don't know what I would do without maca... ;-)

I like VitaCost.com.  They are really inexpensive and give great customer service, free shipping, etc.

Thanks, Heather, I will definitely check them out. I love free shipping!

thought I would jump in given some of these posts are recent despite the old age of that article. Sunfood is privately owned and has never been affiliated with Monsanto or P&G. True that one of the ex-owners had a family relationship with a proctor board member – that's still playing it loosey-goosey with the details to accuse the company of being in bed with Monsanto! It's a rumor/lie spread by a disgruntled former executive. Full disclosure: I do not work for Sunfood but do know their team (I work in the industry so know several superfood co. owners)

Hello.  Thanks for your reply. Yes, I realized the article was a bit aged, which was my reason for reaching out on here. I read about the ex-executive drama as well, so I was feeling confused and unsure of which information was actually accurate. There were a few other articles I came across that mentioned concerns over Sunfood's products as actually being raw. But who knows, could be more lies and rumors spread by competitors fueled by jealousy. This is where the initial frustration stemmed from- just wishing we were all told the truth of things.
