Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!
There's an old yogic technique of intestinal cleaning. It's variously referred to as Shankaprakahslana (also Sankaprakshalana) or Dhauti.
It can get you really, really clean but the best thing is the huge improvements it brings to your health.
It basically involves drinking about a gallon of water with a little salt over an hour and doing five very simple exercises that open up all the five valves in the alimentary canal. Some teachers recommend water with a squirt of lemon and no salt for people with high blood pressure.
There's a strict diet to be followed for the next 14 days. For three days after the cleanse, you should not drink any milk. Tobacco, alcohol, tea/coffee are a no-no. Needless to say, a vegetarian diet has to be followed.
You'll have to google and read up on this on many sites, especially for the dietary recommendations. A good site on this is the Scandinavian Yoga and Meditation School's magazine, Bindu, which has an excellent article on it (http://www.yogameditation.com/Articles/Issues-of-Bindu/Bindu-8/Inte... )
I've tried it about four or five times, with excellent results. The first thing I noticed, as a marginal diabetic, is the instant drop in blood sugar.

Permalink Reply by Stephanie Baker on October 28, 2012 at 7:59pm this is all kind of exciting since i recently started going to yoga and most the moves in the scandinavian yoga mentioned above i know. i'm eager to do this cleanse the next time i have a day off and alone. i already do a nasal rinse w/ neti pot daily/weekly so that won't be anything new. the stomach cleanse might be the only thing i have trouble w/ but i'm game. i love the sensation of an enema afterwards....i just feel clean and lighter and full of energy....i can't imagine how an entire large intestine cleanse will feel. thanks for sharing.
