Real Food Rehab

No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!

For the past few months I've become very very annoyed with my stools. It feels like I use nearly a whole roll of Toilet Paper in a day just trying to wipe it! Then when it appears I've gotten it all, If I just urinate again later and I go to wipe, I'll find more poo on the paper! D:

And to make matters worse, it scares the "crap"  out of me if I get a wedgie- Will I get a streak mark? Compared, my menses are SO much easier because that's only once a month! This stool thing is like DAILY.

A little over a month ago I got another cold(I RARELY get sick but I've been pretty stressed as of late, and this issue isn't helping, LOL) and decided to finally go raw. I decided to about 9 months prior, but got laid off my old job(I just scored a newer and better paying one, hence why raw is now possible again!)

I'm struggling with the raw foods thing, but I find the more raw foods I eat, the better my stool is, without leaving as much gook to surprise me later.

Any IDEAS what could be causing this? Some sort of nutritional issue, intolerance or what?

I vote drink more water...  use probiotics..   and even enzymes  (I like the chewable ones)    (maybe even Dr. Natura) Sounds to me like your diet is cleaning out some "stuff"..    But I am not the best about feedback since I am a zig zagger at best...

Thanks! I DO drink silly amounts of water(like 16+cups a day) because I am always stupidly thirsty, but it never seems to satiate me.

That said, I recently learned my local health food store sells the Silk Live! yogurts that have probiotics and are vegan(sadly I doubt they're raw but to at least get my insides balanced and I can find a raw source) so I'm adding that to my shopping list now! :)

As for the pills, any idea how big that brand's is? The largest things I can swallow are my BC pills, and they're itty bitty. :/ $30 is the cheapest I've ever seen them, and while pricier than I'd still like, I'll deal provided I can actually use em. :3

But yeah, I've asked a fellow vegan and he said a lot the same, but didn't know what I could use since he didn't know of any vegan yogurts. :P

GLUTEN INTOLERANCE!!!!!

This was one of my symptoms about 13-14 years ago when I was trying to figure out what was wrong.  I had some blood tests with my doc and yep, gluten intolerance (and no celiac disease, thank goodness).  I started taking digestive enzymes and they helped wonderfully.  But I alsways wondered how I'd feel if I went 100% gf.  I finally did about 3 years ago (it's been soooooo much easier than I ever imagined) and it's made a world of difference.  Of course, staying high raw is the BEST!!!

But see if you can at least go 100% gf.  If you can't do that, take digestive enzymes.  I STILL take them.  I use Kirkmans' Enzymaid.  I've also used something called Glutenease.  Check at your natural foods market or a natural apothecary.

GOOD LUCK!

WOAH! That could very well be it! My little sister has celiacs so it's not a stretch for me to also be sensitive! D:

That said, I DO notice I feel a little intestinal anger if I eat a LOT of bread, but I don't eat much gluten in general because my mom is super intense about ensuring out kitchen doesn't get cross contaminated(so any gluten stuff I buy I usually keep in my room).

I will ask, what digestive enzymes do you use? With all the stuff thats out there, I wanna be sure what I do get isn't a sham which won't actually help me.

I will note it could possibly be soy too, because in this past week I barely ate anything with gluten, but ate a lot of TVP tacos(didn't wanna waste the TVP and I was getting sick of salads). Corn shells and all, but my stool was still pretty sticky. Hmmmm... I'll eat up the last bit of gluten and soy stuff I have then avoid all the soy/Gluten products I can and see if that helps. :3 (I mean almond milk and flax breads, what is there to miss aside from prepackaged stuff? xD)

So it could very well be an intolerance to both.

Thank you thank you thank you! :)

It sounds like you answered your own question.  Eat more raw, problem goes away.  Amazing!

Haha true, but I'm trying to eat a more 80/20 raw style in general(eat all raw when at home/packing for work and such) but when I eat out at restaurants with coworkers, or at my boyfriend's parent's house. Already, 2/3rds of my meals are raw and most of my snacks are too(hence my other thread, this is pretty pricey) but I'm still having issues with my stools and flatulence. :P

I'd like to know what my triggers are so I can keep the peace in a public setting alongside my insides. :3

I do plan to up the ante when I transfer colleges and move out of my parent's house. To at LEAST 95% raw, I mean(to allow for any mistakes I won't say 100%, lol).

Then I will have more room for raw prep equipment rather than say, dehydrating all my foods in my room and being confined to a teensy shelf of food in the fridge. ;)
