Real Food Rehab

No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!

The specialty drinks you'll find here are very distinct indeed. Raw "cocktails" are civil, swank and seductive......but most importantly, there are actually good for you!

Raw Mojito

the juice of three organic limes
a bunch of muddled fresh mint
a good squeeze of agave nectar
16 ounces of rejuvelac or kombucha

Place all ingredients into a martini shaker and gently mix. Pour into chilled martini or wine glasses. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint. Savor and allow the tensions of the day fall away.

Virgin Mary
(this is not my pic but it looks just like what I made)

6 large ripe tomatoes
1 organic lemon, peeled & juiced
4 stalks celery
1 tsp Braggs Aminos or Nama Shoyu
1/4 tsp freshly ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
celtic sea salt & fresh pepper to taste
1 cup crushed ice

Juice the tomatoes, lemon and 3 stalks of celery.Pour into a blender and add Nama or Braggs, nutmeg, cayenne, salt & pepper....blend just long enough to incorporate. Pour the tomato juice over ice in tall glasses, serving with a celery stalk and lemon garnish.

Healthy Hound
Non-Alcoholic Version of a Greyhound

1/2 cup fresh grapefruit juice
1/2 cup original kombucha
1/2 lime, juiced
1 Tbsp agave nectar or raw honey
small handful fresh mint, chopped

If you're lucky enough to own a citrus press this drink is a no-brainer. You can also squeeze the grapefruit by hand with no problem. Mix the grapefruit juice, kombucha, lime juice and honey with the mint and pour into a chilled martini glass, garnishing w/ a sprig o' mint.

Cranberry Wine
Elaina Love
Serves 15

1 head celery
1/2 lemon

Put all ingredients through a juicer. Mix well and serve in a large pitcher or punch bowl.
Mexi - Live Margaritas

1 cup Pineapple, fresh or frozen
3-4 tbs Lime juice
1 cup Fresh apple juice

Blend all ingredients with some ice until smooth. Drink Up!
I love kombucha with cherries I have whirled up in my vitamix poured in. I just keep the organic frozen ones in my freezer. It's a beautiful drink and feels just like a cocktail. Hummm need to take pix next time.
What is "muddled" as in the muddled fresh mint? Hugs..

"muddled" is what  they do to mint when making mojitos...it more or less is like crushing it a bit with something...i used a wortar and pestle...but there a device which is usually wooden that is usually used for it.

i'm loving the raw mojito...very refreshing!

Does anyone know where to purchase kombucha in Ontario?
A good way to muddle mint is to put some ice in a cocktail shaker, add mint and use a muddler or i use a similiar tool, the wooden plunger for my juicer, to crush the mint and ice together. I learned this at a cocktail making class, and it works great.

Because it's so incredibly healthy and technically like a veggie juice, I put this in the other section so more people could have access to it, but as it's tastes literally remind me of a BETTER VERSION of my last sip of my favorite drink, I felt it was more than appropriate to place in this category as well.

Raw Night-Shade-Free Virgin Bloody Mary :)

Juice 1 beet and it's greens and stems--the whole dang thing.

1 clove of garlic

1/2 inch slice of a whole onion (mine was 3 inches in diameter)

1.5 inch by 1.5 inch finger of ginger

5 big collard green leaves, stems and all

I added about 1 cup of water...I tend to prefer my juices somewhat diluted

2 tablespoons to 1/3 cup of lemon juice.  I am very very easily used to sour foods and a complete fan of them...could eat a whole lemon without shedding a tear so I don't really want to chance giving you an exact measurement.

4 carrots

Sprigs of rosemary and oregano if you've got them.  Maybe a palmful of both is what I used.

Optional (for sweetening) one orange or a few cranberries (or both).  I haven't tried it this way but for some reason I've got a feeling it'd be delightful.  If you don't like the recipe as it is, try adding the orange and telling me what you think :)

And of course stick a celery stick in for garnish. ;)  Enjoy.

If you sweetened it with the optional fruits, mint would be a fabulous garnish as well in addition to the celery.  It could also pack a punch juiced with the juice as well (I'd recommend 1/4-1/2 cup).

It's seriously wonderful.  I now question why I broke my feast tonight (salt craving) for celery with some sriracha sauce on top.  This was a million times better...never going back...I love savory juices. :)  Going to keep on pressing!!! :)

this sounds amazing!!! thanks for sharing!
