I'm 51 but I plan to live to 120 and I would like to also catch the wisdom of those of you who go before me. I want to be as healthy and active as I can be for the rest of my life, staying connected with you will help me to do that.
Thanks to Penni for setting up the room, and for Mary for starting the discussion in Raw Balance. This will be such a great resource for everyone.
Permalink Reply by Chris on October 26, 2011 at 9:16am Susan, glad you said sages not ages! I'd call you an Elderberry Flower waiting to ripen! Laboratory studies suggest that elder flowers have anti-inflammatory effects". Keep us in line with that one ;-) "Elder preparations may protect the liver against toxins" so visit us for sage advise and toxic overload or just plain laughter--the best medicine.
Over 60 and stubborn enough to prove it--down here in the south that makes me a Steel Magnolia and now proud to be an ElderBerry. I have lots of interests and still think I'm 35. Trying to live simply and healthy for the rest of my life.

Permalink Reply by Linda Bedell on October 26, 2011 at 9:58am Hello everyone! I am so glad this room was created and I look forward to many new friendships. I am originally from Michigan and relocated to Birmingham, AL in 1997. My job then took me to Nashville, TN in 2007. In June of 2010 I retired and moved to Florida. I currently live in Fort Walton Beach (for now lol). Like Chris, I too, think I'm 35.....some days my body says "Ya right". I just tell it to shut up and drink your spinach! I know that we will all support and learn from each other. Thank you for sharing this part of my journey with me.
Permalink Reply by Kathleen Kelly on October 26, 2011 at 9:59am I'm Sherry, 64, a widow, live with the man of my life, Beau (a shih tsu), mother to 4, grandmother to 15. I look around at friends and family and see a lot of "aging" going on. I don't want to go there! I am changing my diet more and more towards high raw, but it is hard at times with no support around me. I cling to this site as my support. I am glad to be here and hope to continue towards that high raw life style that will keep me young until Jesus comes!

Permalink Reply by Debbie Halcomb on October 26, 2011 at 10:28am I know what you mean. You would think all these health issues would scare us into it if nothing else but as always, fear tactics do not work. Hopefully we can find inspiration here.

Hello gang. I'm 63 and trying to reclaim my health. When I turned 40 years old I started gaining weight. The reasons are unimportant at this time in my life. My doctor told me to lose the extra weight, (100 pounds) as it was unhealthy. Did I? ... No! When my triglycerides and cholesterol got to 300 my doctor told me to lose the extra weight and stay on my diet. Did I? ... No! When my blood pressure went up to 200/100 my doctor told me to lose the extra weight and start exercising regularly. Did I? ... No! Well now I'm diabetic. I have been trying to lose the weight for the last 10 years but couldn't exercise due to bad knees. I had a total knee replacement in both knees. What will it take to inspire me to lost the weight?
Permalink Reply by Kathleen Kelly on October 26, 2011 at 10:35am I am 61, soon to be 62. So happy to have this room. My husband and I started 80% raw the first of this year and were doing great until he was diagnosed with tongue cancer. Since then I have fallen back into the SAD diet with both feet. I resolve to reform my diet every wek but crave that comfort food. Reading and discussing with other elderberries about struggles and successes is something needed for some time. I always look for people's success stories in my age group but few are found. Maybe this will incourage more.
