Raw Food Rehab

Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

hi...i'm tired of being tired. i'm ready, excited, and nervous at the same time, to start my raw food way of  eating. i'll be the only one in my family doing so 100%. i will still be cooking meat for the rest of the family. i've already cut out processed food, fast food, soda and dairy from all of our diet. i plan to cut cold turkey (meat intake), is that a good idea? i am nursing my lil' baby (3 months) but feel that my milk supply will not go down. i plan to drink juices (veggies/fruit), eat green veggies, eat fruit and have almonds for snacks, drink plenty of water, and make salad dressings for salads. my hubby fears that eating 100% raw is not good while nursing. but then again, eating junk is not healthy either, lol!

anything else i am missing? any advise you have for a newbie?

Yesenia, we were created to thrive on a raw plant based diet. Nobody ate cooked food until after the flood. We have become such an egotistical society that we are never satisfied. Thats why we have people snorting and injecting deadly chemicals into their bodies, just to get high.

this is interesting. some thoughts came to my mind...how do we know that our body is able to thrive from only raw like other animals? i mean, the animals that only eat greens/nuts/seeds...by nature they were made to only consume such items, just like the ones that were made to eat meat or both, get what i mean?

i ask because when i mentioned this way of eating, my hubby said to me: eating cooked meals is what seperates us humans from animals. i just laughed because i know he had just seen the episode from "last man standing" and got that statement from tim allen, lol!

thinking some more.... as i know i am going to be told/asked why this way of eating is not healthy, not right, not meant for us humans, not this, not that...the list goes on.

We're the only species that feeds our babies milk generated from mom eating a cooked food, biologically inappropriate diet.  Cows feed their babies milk produced from graze, apes feed their young milk produced from raw forage.  We feed our young milk produced from a diet of Twinkies and diet coke.  It's amazing they survive.

Wish I'd known about raw when I was feeding mine, I probably would have made better quality and quantity of milk.  As it was, I couldn't make enough and had to quit breast-feeding.

Congrats on your new life!

I just wanted to add that to help the milk supply going one thing that is in alot of the "nursing mother" teas is fennel.  Perhaps try adding it to your dishes?  I still drink hot teas during the cold months.  Alot of the teas I used to drink for breastfeeding to keep my supply going included Fennel, Nettles, Raspberry leaves, Lavender and Oatstraw.   I know that Penni has an awesome lavender cookie recipe I have used in the past, just don't know where I saw it (if it was here at RFR or on her blog).

YES - I feel that if we dared to love ourselves AS MUCH as we love our children, our lives would completely transform.

Bravo to you for this choice!!!!!  A radiant YOU is also the most awesome gift for your children. :)))
