Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

Spring in CT 2006. What a beautiful place to walk! This picture was from a visit to see my sister back in 2006. She was sick and couldn't walk much but she showed me all her favorite spots around her community by car. We would get out and just absorb the scenery and I took photos. Being ill gave her a newfound appreciation and perspective on life and being with her opened my eyes to what I was taking for granted.

Today as I longed to get away from my troubles and go somewhere, I remembered this and thought about how there is probably many beautiful escapes all around me, if I would just take the time to go look.

What better time of year than Spring to get out and go for a walk!!!

Tell me what you are doing for your walks. Are you getting outdoors? Using your pedometers? or just soaking in the scenery? Let us hear from you!

Walking is so fun! And I always choose the scenic route!
Love the pics!
Nice scenery!!
I have been bike riding and then hopping off to walk a bit. We have a bike trail made from an old train route- American Tobacco Trail (ATT). I use it for transportation around town. Seriously, adding in the walking bits has helped me lose weight. I could bike 20 mi/day and not lose weight but traveling the same distance and putting in 1/2 mi of it walking I have started losing about 1#/wk which is a healthy amount!
While on the ATT I sometimes see rabbits, turtles, gold finches, cardinals, and other birds, when it is getting dusk I am sometimes accompanied overhead by a bat- this is not scary and more appreciated as the bats eat the mosquitoes!!
This is beautiful. I can see why your sister is so fond of it. When I lived in Michigan, I attended an all girl boarding school. The school property was never ending and I found a little place much like this that was my secret spot. I loved reading there and doing homework. The only person I ever shared my "spot" with, was my father when he would come and visit. We would sit there for hoursssss and talk science, medicine, art, etc. It holds my most fondest memories.

I now live in Florida. I have been living here off and on for about 20 years. Can you believe I still haven't found my "spot" here? I have looked for a beautiful place to walk, and you would think with the beauty Florida holds, I would have found one by now...if not many. No luck. I just walk around my block which is beautiful in and of itself, but nothing like being surrounded solely by nature. Those are the most beautiful places for a walk.
