Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!
It seems for some reason after my workouts I crave eggs for some reason, I usually have a smoothie specifically for post workout but at times I really feel the need for something "more" not sure why or what I am missing, I assume I am missing something....any thoughts, sugestions or help on this would be appreciated, thanks
Two things that hopefully will be helpful:
1) if you haven't read the book by Doug Graham Nutrition and Athletic Performance, it will give you other options to try (and explain the science behind it)
2) If you're vegan for the ethical part of it... I'm turned off eggs knowing they kill the male chicks
I too have experienced egg cravings in the past and wanted to know what my body was needing that I was not getting. It turns out that eggs are a rich source of choline (a component of acetylcholine, which is a neurotrasmitter that carries messages from and to nerves and is the body's primary chemical means of sending messages between nerves and muscles).
According to World Healthiest Foods, they are also good sources of protein, selenium, B2, etc.
As an ethical vegan eating eggs is not something I am willing to do. So I started adding Love Raw Foods Sunflower Lecithan (which contains choline and other good for my brain and body micronutrients) to my daily diet and as long as I take it I don't crave eggs. If I am off of it for a couple weeks the cravings come back.
I hope sharing my experience helps. I encourage you to be your own detective, though. Maybe it is not choline, but another macro or micro nutrient your body is craving.
I hope you'll come back and repost after you figure out what your body is asking for, as your experience could help someone else!
Thank you both! I do have the Book 80 10 10, I am slowly working my way through it, I have a hard time with fact based or technical books lol Anyway, i'm not really sure how I would go about figuring out what it is i'm missing that's making me crave the eggs
