LOL, Yoga Cat.
Just a thought for all of us who attend classes. I really think it is worth the investment to purchase your own mat and blocks. Especially during the cold and flu season, I know that some poses bring your face right onto the mat. Some classes do not clean the mats after each class. I am not germ phoba, but I don't want someone getting sick from me either, because I go to class more so when I am not feeling well, the whole point of yoking the body!! You can find many including Giam brand at TJ Maxx for just dollars.
Do you have a Lululemon store in your area? The one here has free classes on the weekends before the store opens. very cool!

Wow! I had no idea! I will definitely start looking around at studios in my area.. But you know what will happen though don't you? I will go and then love it and THEN will want to take MORE classes that I have to pay for! ;P

I hear ya about pinching pennies and budget watching. A number of yoga studios in my neck of the woods offer a week of FREE classes periodically when they're gearing up for the start of another session to begin. One of my fave studios offers a $5.00 drop in fee, provided you try a NEW teacher. Nice way to sample classes and teaching styles. Keep your eyes (and ears) open for similar deals in your area.
Has anyone read Tonya Zavasta's new book about raw & yoga? I want to get it.

I've taken 2 hot yoga classes and really like them. I think they may have been two slightly different stlyes, with 2 different teachers. The place I am going to is called Evolution Power Yoga and they have quite a few teachers and teaching/yoga styles. I need to go online and look up the kind I have taken. I like this class much bettter than where I was going before. Before it was just slow moving stretches, now it is strecthing, but at a slightly faster pace, as well as strenghtening. I can certainly "feeling my muscles" the day after class. I love the sweat. Normally I hate to sweat, but knowing I'm going into it to get sweaty (and it's a great way to release toxins) helps.

Let me know how you like the hot yoga. Would be a treat to do here in the middle of winter.

I used to take Hapkido, a martial art, but had to give it up at least temporarly. Schedule conflict. I then tried Hatha yoga for a few months. I like it, but want a style that will have me moving more. I am trying out a hot yoga class that is at a studio about 20 min from my house. I'll let you all know how I like it. I still do the routine from my hatha class at home a few times a week. It is very relaxing and is good for the body as well as the mind.
That is a book I would LOVE to get, but my husband already complains about all the books I have. Love to read!!!! I like Tonya's newsletter and would like to read any of her books, but this one in particular. If anyone has read it, please let us know what you thought of it!

Stephanie, you've inspired me! I love hot yoga too and lately I've been so lazy about going . . .I always feel so much better afterward. It's time to get back onto the mat and into those hot & sweaty but oh so good for us poses!

I practice yoga in my daily life. As far as asanas, I learned Hatha. I want to practice daily. That's my goal. I plan to incorporate japa and pranayama--very powerful!
