The first weekend of the year is the perfect time to Get Our Soup On!!  I'm thinking many of you may have similar goals: cleanse, detoxify and maybe even to lose a few pounds! Today I'm sharing 3 delicious, nutrient dense green soups that can be eaten straight from your blender, or gently heated if temperatures are cold where you are.


Today's superstar is WATERCRESS!


Watercress is often used in Chinese medicine & holistic protocols as an effective expectorant for expelling excessive mucus from the lungs and body. Pureeing watercress with other ingredients like; garlic, onion, green vegetables and vegetable broth is a tremendous aide in detoxification and in grounding the body. The addition of freshly cracked black pepper stimulates circulation and a touch of ginger will help to loosen any phlegm in the lungs so the watercress blend becomes even more effective.

Watercress Soup
1 small bundle watercress
1/4 cup fresh cilantro
1/4 cup fresh parsley
1 avocado
1 small cucumber
1 small jalapeno - seeded
1/2 lemon, juiced
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
1 -2 cups Balancing Broth, or water to blend


Put all ingredients into a high speed blender and combine until warm and creamy.


Green Power Soup 

from Resolve to Evolve (pg 15 )

10 kale leaves, washed well
1 handful of parsley
2 garlic cloves
1/3 of a red onion
2 lemons
1 avocado
1 tomato
2 bell peppers (color of your choice)
1 small handful dulse or spirulina flakes
1 tablespoon South River brand sweetwhite miso (or other unpasteurized miso)
3 tablespoons cold pressed organic extra virgin olive oil
Small handful pumpkin seeds
½ teaspoon sea salt
Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes

Shave the yellow outer skin off the lemons leavingthe white pith intact. Add all ingredients to a powerful or high-speed blender,adding water only as needed to reach a thick, creamy consistency. Serve.

Easy Peasy Warming Pea Soup
2 cups fresh peas (or small bag frozen green peas)
1 avocado
1 cup coconut water (or plain water)
Juice & a bit of zest from one lime
¼ teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper or cayenne (optional)

extra peas & parsley, for garnish

Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender and enjoy.

i'm going to have to see if i can find watercress on my next grocery trip! those all look great!

i am very fond of watercress...that looks great penni!  fyi, i had the spicy carrot soup from R2E, and that was yummy, too :>)

Mmm, I have kale so I'll make that one tomorrow. We had the mushroom soup tonight

ineed a good lentil  soup recipe... i seem to hve forgotten that i had them...and keep buying more lol
I've been having extreme technology challenges since December. It is so frustrating.  I even had an RFR angel send a reconditioned Flip cam to me, but yesterday it froze up on me mid-filming.  I also had a couple of very kind  donations come in last month so I'm just going to breakdown and go buy a new camera this weekend.
