This week on RFR, our focus has been on getting hydrated. The following recipes were inspired by drinks I enjoyed while I was at 105degrees....
Oaxaca Inspiration


2 cups almond milk
1 ripe banana
1 tablespoon cacao powder
1 teaspoon maca powder
1/4 cayenne pepper (or a pinch of cayenne powder)
Cacao nibs, to finish
Blend all ingredients in a blender and garnish with cacao nibs.
My Emerald Bali

1 cup almond milk
1/2 cup lemongrass water (see video)
1/2 cup frozen mango
handful fresh spinach
1 teaspoon coconut butter or oil, optional
1 teaspoon raw agave nectar
1/4 thai chili (or pinch of cayenne pepper)
1 teaspoon spirulina or blue green algae powder
shaved coconut, for garnish
Combine ingredients, except the shaved coconut, in a blender until completely smooth. Top with a bit of coconut flakes for presentation.
Vegan 8
4 medium ripe tomatoes
2 carrots
1 red bell pepper, seeded
1 lime, juiced
2 cloves garlic
2 scallions
6 + leaves of romaine
1 jalapeño, seeded
Finish with a pinch of Himalayan sea salt & a splash of apple cider vinegar
Chop and put all ingredients into a blender and combine until smooth. Add the sea salt & cider vinegar, if desired. Serve as a blended soup or strain to drink as a juice.

My beautiful daughter gave me a new blender for my birthday! I have been without one for quite a while, so I am really looking forward to making drinks and smoothies and nut milks again. Yay for wonderful children. :-)
Always gotta stimulate my pallate, geesh!! I was gonna say Beware of Mighty THOR Goddess Penni with her big Meat hammer lol, I used to use that to beat the heck outta steaks etc and make em less tough with one of those also. My daughter watched this video with me and said mom we gotta make these this weekend! I was like .."You dont gotta ask me twice!

These videos are so great because you can hear how the occasional odd word is pronounced. I will admit I have been pronouncing oaxaca as oh-zah-ca. *blush*

Yum! I made Goji Lemonade from your recipe book this morning (except I substituted the salt for agave). It was delicious. Can't wait to try the rest of the drinks and the ones you demonstrated above. BTW, I love to take cold watermelon out of the refrigerator on a hot day, and just scoop it (with an ice cream scoop) into the blender, y voila ... Watermelon juice! Very refreshing on a hot day. So simple to make, too! =D
