Foodie Friday - Nina's Heart Healing, Fat Burning, Energizing, Dressing, Dip and Spread

Today's Foodie Friday features our very own, Michelle K:

Today I am so excited to share with you one of my new favorite recipes.  It's a dressing, a dip, a spread.  I am sure you can find a ton of uses for it. I am dedicating the creation and naming of this recipe to my fabulous mother-in-law.  I know not everyone is able to use glowing, spectacular adjectives to describe their in-laws, I am just a lucky gal.

Inspired by some information in one of the women's magazines my mom-in-law brought with her on her last visit,  this recipe is now a total staple.  You know those funny magazines you see in the racks at the checkout counters, the ones that promise miracle weight loss cures and 50 ways to serve vanilla ice cream.

Well, Nina and I always laugh at the absurdity of it all but she loves that there are these little tidbits of information that if true can be enlightening and useful.  So, on one page in the last magazine we looked at together, we learned that there is an extract in limes that lowers levels of heart-harming cholesterol and triglycerides.  Another blurb talked about the capscaicin in chiles making the body-fat stores essentially self destruct, also it is known to boost calorie burn, increase satiety and stabilize blood sugar.  Tucked in between two other factoids was a lil' bit about Mangoes and how they are a top source for mangiferin which helps increase insulin sensitivity and regulate blood sugar according to a study.  They say this is a key to melting pounds and boosting energy.

The funny part is how the magazine tells you to ingest these super foods using white sugar and mayo for example.  Well, I love all those flavors together all by themselves and that is how I started to use them.  I would chop up a mango and a chili toss it in a sald and squeeze on some lime juice.  Then one day for some reason I threw it all in the blender and added a couple more ingredients creating this fantastic dressing, dip, and spread.

Nina's Heart Healing, Fat Burning, Energizing, Dressing, Dip and Spread
1 Mango
1/2 Lime peeled
1 small chili-carefully deseeded
1 small clove of garlic (optional of course)
1 long thin carrot
1/4 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp sea salt

Blend all ingredients together and enjoy!

Michelle!! I can almost taste that dressing all the way over here!! I cant wait to try this one. I have no doubt that those flvors go well together. AND, It sounds like it would make a pretty rockin' smoothie also...

THANK you for sharing this with us!!!

That sounds so good.  I need to buy a mango and chili pepper today and we'll have this for dinner!!  Thank you for another great video, Michelle!!
Michelle, you're amazing, and your mother-in-law sounds pretty incredible, too.  Thanks for sharing this recipe with us.  Can't wait to try it!

I have definitely eate it by the spoonful but would not stick a straw in it.  Although a few more minutes of playtime in the blender and I bet you could creat a Thai Fusion smoothie that could cleanse you.  Hmmmm?  Good idea, thanks.
