Liver Cleansing Beet Salad
Beet greens, from 2 beets, chopped
1/2 cup green cabbage leaves, shredded
1 tablespoon scallions, chopped
1 medium beet, shredded
2 small carrots, shredded
1/2 avocado, sliced
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 lemon, juiced
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons Nama Shoyu or Bragg's Amino's
fresh cracked pepper, to taste
Whisk together the lemon juice, olive oil, nama shoyu, garlic and pepper.  Massage ands marinate the cabbage & beet green mixture and allow to stand for at least 10 minutes.  Create a bed of the greens on a dinner (or salad) plate. Arrange the sliced avocado, topping with the shredded beets and carrots. Dust with a garnish of celtic sea salt, fresh pepper, and hemp seeds.
Pure Vitality
1 small beet
6 carrots
1 organic lemon
1 small piece of ginger (less than a 1 inch pc)
1 granny smith apple (optional)
Run all ingredients through a juicer and enjoy!

Oh yummy. I have an obsession with beets. You really can't "beet" these recipes. Thanks for sharing them.
I don't think I like beets...but I will try it once to make sure. Maybe if I grate it really really really small I can tolerate it better. I'd be better off to juice it with some other veggies. :)
Do the beets stain your teeth? LOL

i used to love beet juice but then the past two times i juiced beets my throat got really sore afterwards for almost a day. is this a common reaction?

I'm really new to the Raw Food Rehab. I started at about 15% raw about two weeks ago and am now at about 60% raw foods and already feel so much better. I sleep better, my brain is more focused and even when I'm tired I have more energy. It baffles me that it took getting to a point where I really thought I was dying to take this step. I started the raw foods out of desperation because I don't want to die of any of the many cancers that run in my family or any of the maladies that plague me.

I've had surgery three times because I was so sick and the doctor's were convinced it was cancer. I am now convinced it is celiac and a lifetime of putting my health in last place. I have type 2 diabetes, bordeline high blood pressure, acid reflux, hydial hernia, horrible skin and I'm almost legally blind without my glasses on. I am obese to the tune of 100 lbs. I am the size of two of me.

I have to say, THANK YOU!!! Your video's are so encouraging, informative and so,so helpful. I am on board for the 77 day initiative and I am very excited. I really believe that the next eleven weeks will change my life forever, it has already begun. Add to that my daugter (like it or not) will participate as well (to a smaller extent). My hope is that this will help her overcome her learning disabilities. That's my prayer anyway.

Penni, re: your comment about this initiative being different......I'm feeling the same way, it's different this time. I feel that this past winter was especially TOUGH, don't you think? And because we have been through an especially tough winter, we are all SO freakin' HAPPY to see the spring arrive, see the trees budding and greening up, seeing the flowers poking through the dirt to fully bloom, we're so incredibly inspired. I know I feel FULL of renewed enthusiam and resolve to get back on the raw trail now that winter is behind us and we can enjoy the warmth and the sunshine!! I posted here on Sunday that my new mantra (after getting back from vacation and wanting to get back on track) was going to be "pure and clean, pure and clean". Welllllll, my first 2 days (Monday and Tuesday) back to work were not so good. I have to admit that I hit the candy jar at work pretty hard those 2 days. And boy, did I feel yucky!Wednesday I made a vow to not touch the candy, and I was SUCCESSFUL! 3 straight days with no candy, YAY ME! So, I feel I'm on my way to doing better.

I, too, did a little reading about spring cleansing. One thing I read was how good dandelion greens are for liver cleansing. So I bought some. I've eaten some just all by themselves, I've put them in salads and tomorrow I will put them in a smoothie. I'd like to look more into liver and gall bladder cleansing. I'll check around RFR for more info.

Now beets........hmm, can't say I'm a big fan of beets. The few times I've tried them, I thought they tasted like dirt!! hee hee.......maybe I'll like that taste more now! But I'll give 'em another shot. I'll have to try to buy some organic ones and try these recipes.

Something has shifted in me the past 2 weeks. I've been struggling and feeling soooo lost with this adrenal gland fatigue for 3 entire years. Then I had the pleasure of speaking to a lovely woman about her regaining her health through eating raw AND I found this website!

I'm 100% in and ready to be a part of this beautiful ride! I'm so proud of all of us. I keep coming back to this - it seems like the most loving thing I can do for myself. This is a new sensation for me. I like it! =)

Why do we need to add olive oil in Liver Cleansing Beet Salad? Avocado is plenty enough for healthy oil.
I have been doing a beet, asparagus, carrot, lemon, apple, ginger, dandelion, kale, spinach, celery, cucumber and whatever I have on hand to give my organs a much needed boost. My hubby thinks all my juices taste like dirt but I have been doing this for so long that I actually crave and enjoy them. Google the health benefits of beets, asparagus, carrot etc.....and you will see all the great things they do for your body. The ginger and/or lemon/apple help make the taste of the juice more tolerable. I make a big batch in the a.m. and then bottle it in 16 oz. glass jars and its ready to grab and go for the day.
